I've had the fix for about 4 days now, and it is about 50-70% better for me.
I can still feel it in 3rd and some in 4th gear but less prominent. Haven't noticed any change in power.

Got my car back today. Too early to tell how well the fix worked.
I did get some info from the service rep. The fix is not designed to eliminate
the problem completely according to the district manager. It will fix about 70%
of the problem in most cases. They reduced the time to calculate some parameters
which will remove some of the studder, but not all.
He also mentioned something about getting through EPA quickly.

To be honest, I thought the car felt like it was running rich during the medium throttle 2.5k-3.2k zone. Backing off the gas slightly smoothed it out. Plus, it was always far worse after the car had been sitting overnight, when it runs on a richer "cold" map anyway.
So I decided to use something that I thought might ignite a bit quicker than the 93 I'd been using. 91 is not available in my area.
A tank and a half of 89 later, and the stutter is almost gone. 3 tanks later, I'm noticing no power loss and a much diminished stutter. I really think the thing just runs pig rich on medium throttle applications in that 2.5k-3.2k zone.
So 89 has helped my stutter. FWIW, YMMV, etc.
When I talked to the service rep last time, he mentioned that they previously thought the car was running lean, but SOA techline said the problem
is because it is actually too rich. I'm no mechanic so I don't really know what that implies.
My car seems to run a bit better with 93 Shell V-Power than my previous choices of gas.

has anyone done this successfully? turn around time? results? its not too bad in my outback, just in 2nd gear
Still waiting. Turn-around time seems to be about 9-10 days now. There is backlog
at SOA for this fix.

Awesome, i'll be taking my car there just as soon as I can stand parting with it.
Any ideas on when/if dealers will get the equipment to do this themselves?
Sevice rep did not know when they would be able to fix it locally. He mentioned some cartridge they would receive, but SOA need to make a bunch
of 'em to send to all dealerships.
Car has been at the dealership since Monday. They say it takes about 3 days, but the guy ahead of me waited more than a week, so it may take a while.
Crusin' around in my sloooow loaner car meanwhile...

Did they give you a loaner at least?
Yes, they did. Great dealership service so far from Austin Subaru.

Dropped my car of today to have the "studdering" problem resolved.
One guy ahead of me dropped his car off last Monday and is still waiting.
Suppose to take about 3 days.
The service rep said that sending the ECU to SOA NJ is currently the only option.
Eventually they will be getting the gear/cartridge to fix it locally.

Roof rack systems for the Legacy Wagon
in Exterior/Aesthetic
Posted
Sorry, I'm still a bit confused about the cross-bars since I haven't seen any of the roof rack accessories first hand.
So my 05 Outback wagon comes with the wing-shaped (flat) crossbars. Subaru sells the round cross-bars for the Outback as well.
What is the big difference between these (except shape), eg quality/usability? Does other Subaru accessories (bike/ski/cargo) work
with both or just one of them and what about non-Subaru accessories?
Thanks,
