haha I understand, my younger brother wants me to let him use my Legacy instead of my Cavalier (bought the car to drive when my suby is down)
-
If you have a good car, keep it and start saving and have the GT as a DD and what ever you get for modding out
-
yeah my first car was a '99 Civic with a 5-speed and my parts legacy is a 5-speed
-
. I'll just be sure to get a 5 speed this time.
Thats why I am doing a 5-speed swap this weekend for my car, I got tired of the automatic
-
haha yeah, my cousin did it, he took an '05 RS and converted it to an STI with the WRX drivetrain before he wrecked it
-
so by a 2002-2005 RS and do a STI drivetrain and motor swap and have a STI for the price of a RS
-
That would be your best bet. At least you'd be able to get some of your money back that way. Right now I'm just saving for a newer Legacy GT. I'd love to get a turbo charged one but my parents don't want it on their insurance.
Yeah I'm saving for a bugeye or even a blobeye impreza wrx but I dont know
-
yeah i really should have but it ran nice for a little while inbetween all of this haha. Oh well if something majorly goes wrong again, i plan on parting out the car
-
Yeah, my Subaru that I have right now is really great. Never gives me issues which is good because I commute 100 miles round trip two days a week. But the headgaskets still haven't gone yet so that is the only thing I have to worry about.
yeah my car probably should have been in the junk yard by now but I keep digging deeper in my pockets and fixing it. The car so far I have changed the head gaskets twice (two different motors), the car is currently on its third motor since I have owned it, and a rebuilt transmission. Also all of the little maintenance that is required for a 13 year old car
-
I just use regular oil and I get my oil changed every month and half. I drive roughly 2,000 miles a month now.
rshaw123, I hope you get your Subaru fixed up soon!
There is an Outback that popped up on craigslist here in Sandpoint and it has 214,000 for $2,400. I'm half tempted to go look at it even though I probably wouldn't buy it.
Yeah I'm hoping too, the car for having only 145k has been a complete pain since I bought it. But the car should be done this weekend. I have found a few nice Subarus around where I live but because I am in college, I really didn't have the cash for them at that moment.
-
nice, unfortunately this is my only Subaru left at the moment. I have a 2002 Hyundai that is almost fixed but I'm selling that
-
rshaw123, as long as it works it is fine. My dad and I are going to be swapping some engines pretty soon. I was hoping for this week but he just bought a 2010 SLP575 Camaro so all of the plans for that have been put on hold until him and my mom go to New York and come back with the car. I'm getting really tired of waiting and waiting for something to get done on the cars..
Yeah I understand, Ive been waiting for my cousin to be free to help me. My car has been sitting in my yard untouched for 3 months and hopefully it will be done this weekend

I had to go with what I had available. The motor I just pulled out had 80k and the transmission was rebuilt 10k miles ago, but my brother hit a deer a while back and cracked the block that got worse and worse until i lost all compression, and when my cousin and I were swapping the motor, the torque converter came out and wont go back in. So we are doing a manual swap and unfortunately my parts car had more miles then my DD.

i have 145k miles on the body, and a 196k on the motor and tranny
How many miles are on your 2nd gen Legacy?
