Nice. Looking forward to see how it turns out!

mjpetty64, What rims are those? tires size?
I have mine same yours but 14" steelies are still on.
Those are 17" stock rims from 08-09 LGT. His is the first 2nd gen Legacy that I've seen with those wheels, and I agree, they look good on that body style Legacy.

That's a big improvement! Looks way better, even though its just a primer. What materials did you use to remove the rust?
Got bored again and finished up.Before:

Nice. What are your plans? There's a clean 1st gen for sale here locally that is tempting me, but I don't really need another car.

I too enjoyed your build on the 99 Legacy. I must say that you have awesome skills. Looking forward to see how this one turns out.

I don't have a Haynes. I'll see if I can get a used one from Amazon or ebay. But if anyone cares to share, I'd really appreciate it.

Looking for a DIY guide for power steering replacement for 05-09 2.5i. Can anyone help? I did search and read through the threads that came up, but none of them are DIY guides.

Are you using adapters to fit those Corvette wheels?

I was in Sacramento on Tuesday 6/4 on a business trip (the company I work for has an office in Sacramento) and I spotted a BSM sedan at the parking lot in front of the office that I was at. Didn't take a closer look, but the lower valence of the rear bumper was either plasti-dipped or wrapped. It was on the corner of Power Inn Road and Cucamonga. Wondering if that car belongs to someone in the forum, and if we work for the same company.

welcome to the forum! are you originally from So Cal? Must be nice living in Hawaii.

Outback suspension back on. Put the H&R's onto my friends Blitzen6. This thing is hilarious looking now.
Can't wait to finally get this nightmare sold and out of my driveway.
I thought you were working on a swap?

I just checked Rallitek website, they have 2 sets of Rallitek springs available for 05-09 Legacies.

I'm in Claremont too. Autotrader and craigslist would be good sites to look for used cars. I goggled subaru repair in Upland, and my search result found Superior Subaru in Upland. I don't have any experience with them though.
Any recommendations for a repair shop in the inland empire? Specifically in the Pomona-Upland area.My son is looking to buy an Outback, and we would like to take the car in for inspection before we buy it.
For that matter, any suggestions where to look for an older Subie in the $4000 price range?
Thanx.

clear bra and tint were my first mods as well when i got the car.

Are you still on original HG at 200k miles? When I sold my 01 OBW a year ago, it had 186k miles without HG failure.
-
when I first saw them, I thought they were 18s. I like rims that look bigger than their actual size.

My new paint! And here she is!
The tape pulled off paint on a few places, getting that fixed for free on wed, they were really upset. But I was like hey shit happens, Im sooo happy about the paint!
Nice! Do you have a side profile pic? You've come a long way. I remember you from sl-i.net when you were asking about suspension options to lower your car... if you don't mind me asking, how much did it cost you to paint the whole car? Did you have the door jambs and behind the side claddings painted as well?
-
if i'm not mistaken, for the same body style, you can get one color OBW on the 03-04 models... and I've only seen the silver color.

Just to confirm this for the 09 - I did this on my 2009 legacy 2.5i:
1) Pop off the lower dash cover (two push-screws and 1 push pin in the middle)
2) Look inside - there's a box labeled "DRL Module", I don't remember the exact name. It has a black and a white harness plugged into it.
3) Pull the white harness.
4) Find blue/black wire - pull it out.
5) Done!
how do you pull the blue/black wire? I pulled on it, but wouldnt come out.
DIY Starter Repair. How-to: Remove, Disassemble, Grease, Reinstall (w/pics)

At almost 150K, my starter was making a grinding noise so I bought a remanufactured one and installed it. Though not as bad as the old starter, the new starter was also making a grinding noise. Feeling disappointed I searched online and found this thread. I followed the instruction, took the starter apart, cleaned and applied new grease, put it back together and reinstalled and the grind is all gone. Success!! Thank you! I returned the old starter and saved myself a hundred bucks.
