  1. Ok I'm bumping this for more info on this Timken part. I see that the rear on the LGT is a cartridge bearing which is nice; are you saying that if you buy the cartridge bearing and press out the hub + bearing that it comes with in theory the STI hub bearing will fit? Is it TIMKEN HA590119?

If so that's easy and I already have all the parts from my 6mt/5x114 swapped (but hit by a drunk driver) 06 WRX wagon. The STI rear wheel bearing is readily available, the hub is a Subaru part only 28462FE011.

These are the 04-07 STI rear wheel bearing specs:

    Width 2.054"

    Outside Diameter 2.8340"

I'm also questioning the need to make the adapter plate if the 08+ STI uses the same OD size bearing as well, you can push out the hub+bearing from that set and put it into the carrier for the 05-09.

If you look at my posts, you’ll find some info as I already did the swap ~10 years ago.

    👍🏻

  2. Sorry for the crappy pictures, I've took them in 2010.

The offset of the bearing is also a little bit different. Like 3mm if I remember.

    I've been using R180 axles because I also run a 6 speed.

Since then, I have a little bit of vibration and I think it's because those axle are to long for my LGT. I'll might shorter them when I have time.

Car didn't ride a lot since all those years.

  3. It has, by a member in Canada but is not an easy mod.

Yes, I've made it in 2011.

Front is the easy part. You need a custom made coilover with the STI lower bracket in it.

For the rear, we machined the trailing arm to put the bigger STI bearing.

The bolt partern is also not the same.

You need to mod the handbrake cable braket to use the Legacy cable with the STI backing plate.

I've posted couple pictures but it looks like they are no longer available. I can check if I still have them but I really don't know if I've kept them.

  4. Stop loosing your time with the front.

You don't have to modified anything to fit. Simply use the correct parts.

The rear is to complicate to be offered by a company at a plug and play solution.

-Modified rear bearings from a 08+ STI

-Modified rear trailing arm from a 05-09 LGT

-Modified parking brake kit from a 08+ STI

-STI rear brake disc and pads

    - and other custom made parts

This is why no company want to offer a 5X114.3 conversion. It will cost more than 2k$ just in parts.

  5. a few people bought parts took measurements I'm not sure if anyone has actually tried anything yet though, it sounds as though the rears are what most people are stuck on.

I run my car with 5X114.3 since 2011. I will try to take some picture of the bearing installation but I'm not sure you will find many information from.

  6. Just came across this

Because the 2008 sti and 2005-2009 legacy have the same wheel bearing. You unbolt the legacy wheel bearing with the 5X100 pressed on and the 08 up sti wheel bearing bolts right in with the 5x114.3 already pressed in. They are $55 dollars a piece on Ebay if you look around. I already did it and it works great. remember that the 2005-09 Legacy has the same setup as 2008 up WRX and STI. STi having 5x114 and aluminum control arms. Wrx are steel. That is why legacy suspension fits on 08 up wrx.

    You're wrong.

The bearing diameter is not the same.

The bolt pattern is completely different.

  7. I guess the better question Antho303T is did you use a 08+ rear bearing/hub? If so would the 04-07 rear backing plate work with a STOCK BE rear wheel bearing? The bolt pattern looks similar. That is what I'm trying to determine.

    Thanks!

    Ben

I used the 05 bearing and machined the trailing arm to fit it.

  8. Yes I speak English!!

The problem is not what you have to do but HOW.

We don't took any measurement or any kind of information when we did it.

You cannot use the STI bearing in the front for one simple reason.

THE SIZE!! It don't fit on the knuckle.

We tried everything to fit the 5X114.3 and did it the simplest way.

If a customer come here to do this mod, I’m pretty sure it will cost it +- 1000$ in working time, machining and fitting.

Add the parts and you have the price for this conversion.

Ah and for your information guys, I’m noob here but I tuned cars since 17 years.

  9. I'm really sorry guys for the late reply.

This is my rush season here in Quebec. ;)

It's impossible for me to explain how you can do this mod but I can help you figure it out.

We’ve machined the rear trailing arms to put the STI bearing on. We put the STI backing plate. To be able to fix it, you need to change the bolt pattern of the plate and change the position of the spring retainer of the parking brake.

In the front, you need a custom coilovers to fit the right knuckle.

This is all the info I can give you via internet.

  10. This is the offset difference between the two hubs.

I will post the front mod soon.
