  1. i had a good experience with the guys at slick motorsports on my stage 3 install.

i would trust them to swap out my shortblock and they have reasonable prices. but if you do end up swapping it out yourself and i am free id love to watch/help

side note: i have much more piece of mind with the oil pressure gauge

Dave has a hell of an Evo X as well...and he can actually drive it (usually).

  2. forgive the subaru noob, but do you need 3rd or 4th gear to do logs, or can a pull through 2nd do? If 2nd will do and you're on the east side, map hamann pkwy in willoughby. Industrial pkwy, 1/2 mile plus dead straight and flat. I work on that street and I've used it on weekends in the past to "sort out issues" The bad: map the willoughby police station when you map it.
  3. Holy hell, another NEOH SWP LGT? We absolutely must convene the SWP LGTs at some juncture. Your wife drives it...is it 5EAT or 5MT?

slusbox :( wifey doesn't drive manuals. we'll def. have to convene at some point before too long though. I rarely see another SWP on the road, but over half the people in this thread seem to have them.

  4. ^

^Welcome. Anyone going to 1st thursdays meet QS&L next week?

Doubtful. we'll be out when it's warmer and comfortable to look at other folks' rides.

In other news ours threw a CEL again on Xmas. Stopped at a stop light, about 2/3 of the way warmed up (had been running for 6-7 minutes). Rough low-ish idle for a few seconds, and on goes the CEL. I re-set the car because I didn't want to look at the blinking lights for 5 hours of driving to PA, but I'd guess it was some combination of lean + misfires. Sounds a lot like someone else on this site with an 08 who ended up replacing intake manifold gaskets. Some morning in the near future I'll have to go looking for leaks in the intake track

  5. Intake's spoken for, incidentally, unless someone tells me why we shouldn't be able to swap an 05 intake onto an 08.

Happy Holidays fellow northern Ohio folk! When it warms up we look forward to meeting some of you. In the meantime if you see a slightly-lowered (eibach/koni) 08 SWP with an SPT exhaust that'd be either myself or my wife :)

  6. ^ Ah....indeed, I'm not sure if a basic OBD-II scanner can still retrieve the code, if the CEL is no longer lit.

Do you happen to remember the conditions that brought up the CEL?

Car sitting outside (temps in teens) for 8+ hours...wife noticed it on the way home from work last Thursday...probably lit up before it warmed up or as it was warming up. She's also noticed a slightly rough idle about 5 min into her daily commute if she has to stop at a light and it's cold (well under freezing) out.

  7. any reason you want to take the intake off? I have an 08 and may be interested.

It's my wife's car, and the most it's ever going to get is a mild (cobb stage 1 or equivalent) tune as it's an automatic and I don't really want to have to beef up the transmission (valve body mods/more cooling) to deal with higher boost levels. From what I've been reading it seems like the intake doesn't net any gains at these levels unless you tune specifically for it, which I'm not interested in doing at this point.

What precipitated these musings is a CEL that showed up and went away before I got a chance to read it, and a bit of reading that indicated that the intake _could_ be a cause. Obviously since it happened when the car was cold it could also be a mild vacuum leak or one of a few other things, but I'd like to eliminate the intake as a possible cause.

FWIW it has the heat shield as well, and I'd be up for a direct swap if you're interested.

  8. Howdy neighbor! Have you pulled the code, to confirm that it's intake related?

Getting a second-hand set of components from - hopefully - a for-sale thread here on LGT.com may be a better/cheaper option, if indeed the intake tract is to blame.....

    Howdy!

Code went away (are they stored in these cars for any period of time? I'm pretty sure if the CEL's not lit autozone can't pull it)...still not sure if it's intake-related however given what I've read about these intakes and that we'll probably eventually go with some sort of mild tune on the car I'd just as soon have it stock (minus the resonator probably, but that's no big deal one way or the other). So, I'm looking at my options.

    TRS: Thanks!

  9. Could someone with easy access give me a list of the pieces I'll need to get to return my air intake (2008 LGT) to its stock configuration (it had an SPT intake on it when we bought it, and I think it's causing intermittent CEL issues). I think this includes a snorkel piece, the airbox (and filter), and the MAF tube, but I'm not 100 percent sure.

    Thanks in advance!

  10. Hey guys looking for something with a bilstein strut and a spring that doesnt lower more then an inch but stiffer then stock for a better handeling ride, any sugestions?

+1 for eibachs (we have them on our sedan with koni yellows). With a wagon you'll have to space the rears up to take car of the sagging issue (I think you have to do that with everything except swifts, which are a lot lower), but they are a good ride/handling compromise.
