  1. i have a known good 05 vb that could be used as a core for climberd's vb modding endeavor . may help expedite said service and/or reduce down time .

$500.00 outright selling price . maybe a new floater , 100% guaranteed not f&^ked up in any way .

i just want every 5eat'er to enjoy what i believe only 3 of us are now . & it is good .

i don't care who does the service as i have no vested interest or potential financial gain in such service . frankly other than a convienence issue to peeps close to or in eastern pa , i would rather see them done by cd .

cd's price for this service is more than reasonable & in line w/ what i paid for mine , kudos & good job

  2. I drove around today with my "version 1" TransGo shift kit. It is good, much better than stock, and better than IPT. But two considerations:

    1) For the folks with the most power, it needs more line pressure. Needs to shift faster. It was good in Sport, but still not good enough in Drive.

    2) It still needs more time to learn, and I STILL NEED TO DO MORE TESTING.

It was comfortable around town, and did not slam shifts at all.

It was cool to watch the tach climb to 7k and then tick over really fast to the next gear. But this still-not-high-enough line pressure is evident, in that at 7k it really needs to be shifting faster. I didn't test it hitting the limiter, and so I do not know if it would at WOT. But at any rate, I'll find a way to make it do better.

did you do any drilling ?

  3. i agree , not for the hobbyist . i am a very capable wrench but also know when to leave it to the pros or someone VERY familiar w/ the situation . i have installed 5-6 shift kits in my day but this one , nah , not the typical vb

my guy told me the shift kit was very unique and quite interesting , he told me he could have whipped something up that probably would have been fine , i suggested the transgo route & he was pleased w/ the kit/results . not his 1st time in a5eat but 1st time modding the vb w/ a kit

  4. car : 05

ipt modded : no , a friend owns a tranny shop & said 750+ for a "modded" vb or shift kit was insane .

3rd q : interested depending on how "close to"

our trans is giving up the ghost from top down , 4th/5th are slipping w/ anything more than light load , debating whether to rebuild or buy/install another unit . whichever way i go it will have a shift kit .

i keep reading these things don't really like stg 2/3 in stock form .

    help me figure where i am , mods list : vf52 , dw740 , perrin 2pc 2 cat dp , greddy up , perrin lw pulley , perrin tmic , cobb ap/protuned , gfb responz in 100% recirc , ptp turbo blanket w/ spt heat shield , is this stg 2 ?

climberd , i have been watching this & other 5eat related threads like a hawk , keep on truckin' man

  5. i follow the layout for the tire reviews, i wanted to put some miles on them before reviewing though .

    1: michelin pilot hx mxm4 grand touring , 215/45/17v , $512.00 for 5 tires mounted & balanced , just over 10k on them

2: north of philly / south of allentown , pa

3: mostly daily driven i a very sane manner w/ occasional very spirited driving

    4: 60% city or should i say backroads & in town w/ 40% highway

5: replaced yokohama avid or avis a4s 215/45/17

6: the subjective part w/ some background first . the old tires were starting too dry rot w/ 25% tread still showing . i called a friend that is a tire wholesaler & got a great price on these 5 , full spare baby .

these are all season gt tires so i knew not to expect stellar performance from them . they are round , black , hold air , did not break the bank & should last quite some time .

i will say that they do everything good but nothing very good . i am pleased at the "friendliness" of these tires , they are very stable , track straight & true , do not follow rain grooves or pavemant irregularities , have a positive feel , communicate w/ the driver VERY well at the limit , very predictable & forgiving at limit but i would not call them precise , they absorb expansion strips & such ok are very quiet . does not feel like a 45 series tire as far as harshness . gas mileage went up 1-1/2 to 2 mpg

after 10k including overdriving them on many occasions , sometime for more than 45min at a time & as well as few "hotlaps" around a full length roadcourse or 3 they are wearing great & show no damage from the occasional pothole . they have substantial rim protectors but the tread width does seem "small" or "narrow" on the rim . 225/45 would be perfect

i have rotated the 5 tires 4 times in that 10k

you will never set lap records w/ this tire but they are perfect for the politicly correct, daily driven, point a to b, grocery getter .

would i buy them again ? at that price it is hard not to , they wear good , act fine , do thier job fine in all seasonal conditions , the quietness is nice too .

i would not feel bad about them again , but i would get 225/45

rated #21 in gt class on tirerack , that surprised me , as far as i'm concerned gt tires are not "performers" & should be very civilized , some of the others that bested this tire are not gt's in my opinion being noisy & harsh .

    weight is 22lbs

side note : very wife approved for dd duties
