I wish I had the extra cash... ended up having to spend an extra 700 bucks I hadn't accounted for.

Getting shit fixed. See other thread for details.

 

It's got a pretty nice rounded edge on the leading side. Just really hard to get a good picture of it. I had NO sweet spot at all. the flapper could only open like 1/4" maybe. Tried orienting it forward or back, didnt seem to make a difference, still using stock studs as well.

Ported result. Think I took enough out? I did smooth it out a bit more after I took this. Still had to take a hammer to the jpipe as well. Did not clear the flapper whatsoever.

 

Welp, ported the wastegate last night and going to test fit the downpipe tonight. Pics to follow.

What ever happened to Frenchy's turbo? Did it just up and walk away, never to return?

... Sigh. Guess I'll still be porting the turbo and sticking with the stock catback for now.

Anyone have any luck with this thing? Or are we all waiting to hear back...

Definitely drop the exhaust manifold first. If you do not the turbo will hit the front crossmember when you are trying to pull it.

If you're pulling the motor try and scrounge up some used GRB / GVF exhaust cams and valve springs. Don't miss this chance to upgrade those.

 

What are those? And of course, what's the benefit?

If you have done other ej25 this will be pretty similar, just the power train mounts and header are different. I would drop the turbo from underneath before pulling the motor, that will give more wiggle room in the front.

No, 3rd owner. I've had it for almost two years now. Guy that had it before me had an AP and a OTS Stage 1 tune on it but then put it back to stock before I bought it. Car has always had a random hard miss when I got on it in 3-5th. I'm assuming this is probably related.

 

Maybe port your wastegate while you have the turbo off

Very sorry to hear about that Zakster. I can honestly say that I feel your pain. What is your plan for the engine? Are you having a shop remove it or doing the work yourself? Very curious to see what went wrong in there?

 

I'll be pulling it myself, I've done/helped on a few rebuilds, now but this will be the first 5th Gen. Anyone know if there's a good walkthrough on the pull out there? Will be going to get a compression test done soon though to confirm without a doubt.

Welp, my install has been put on hold, yet again. Turns out the motor's gonna be coming out. Confirmed with a good buddy of mine what constant random P0301 code, and other idle issues point to Guess I'm lined up to get some headwork done. With only 112k on the car, you could say I'm pretty irritated, especially since I haven't ever even driven it hard.

I'd be in on the housing swap. I'd need it sooner than later. This thing is going in one way or another, real soon. Doing timing belt kit/diff's/dp/bpv/ebcs/chargepipe in the very near future. Waiting on buying the fluids, porting the wg and figuring out how to get by without a car for a few days. :/

Do people really have issues with the mosquitos down there? Its not Minnesota afterwards... I've been down there twice in the last few years, and never had an issue with bugs of any sort.

So by porting, does it make our wastegate more prone to cracking that people see with the other turbos?

According to this diagram, part numbers that it lists are 803910050 and 803912040
