  1. I understand what you're saying, but it still seems silly to me. They engineer and install the "infrastructure" for the cabin air filter in all cars, at considerable expense. Then, at the time of sale, offer an optional "cabin air filtration system", which consists of the filter element only, for what I assume would be a considerable cost. I suppose it was probably the same with my last car...I just didn't know it.
  2. After reading the thread, my hat's off to dimil for figuring this out. One question, though: Did Subaru design, build, and sell cars with a cabin air filter tray, but no filter? Isn't that, well...stupid? Or did I miss something here?
  3. I had to disable mine in my last car because I was driving through military checkpoints in Germany several times a day. Teenagers with guns getting nervous because I'm wiping out their night vision didn't seem like a good idea. Of course I tried using my parking lights, but after the first dead battery from leaving them on all day, I needed a better solution. At least with the Subaru, it'll be easy if I decide to go that way.
  4. If Subaru and other manufacturers are concerned about safety, why not just turn on the tail lights as part of the DRL feature? Nobody ever got blinded by a tail light--except maybe for those laser-bright rear fog lights in Europe.
