  1. This might sound way stupid but the Rotella T6 is safe regardless of the bottles specifications? (Diesel, truck, blah blah blah)
  2. Alright guys/gals... now I’m really going to look stupid but oh well. My 09 LGT is getting old (146k miles) and I’m out of oil change coupons with the local dealership I work by, it’s time to handle her on my own. Due to some small “piston slap noises” I’ve been debating changing up the oil I typically have put in it. Any recommendations to a brand/viscosity or combo?! I live in SL,UT so temps now are freezing but also get hot hot during summer time! If anyone has any oil/filter recommendations please share
  3. My car’s history with that noise is extensive. They worked on the clutch at 90k and serviced the TOB during that. The noise has been there and gotten worse since. I’ve taken it back to them multiple times with multiple TOB “warranties” on them but it doesn’t fix the issue. When my foot is OFF the clutch pedal the noise is bad. When I press in the clutch, it completely disappears. I work at an AutoBody shop so I have access to al kinds of tools, equipment, and knowledge but am I in over my head wanting to fix this on my own? I’m over the dealership technicians. Also, I checked the fluid this morning and the color and level were perfect.
  4. This might be a stupid question guys with an easy answer so go lightly on me! When my clutch pedal ISN’T engaged, would that be the throwout bearing sounding like an awful whistling noise?! It’s so bad now! I want to attempt to fix it myself if I can, the dealership has tried 3 times now
  5. Thank you for all the help guys. The car is in amazing shape besides that noise. I paint cars for a living so I have always kept it “looking” as clean as possible. Wishing I were a mechanic about now though! I have a garage to store it if it ever goes under the weather and money won’t be too stressful. I’ll most likely go grab me a new reliable base model from someone and keep my Subaru like my first love. There’s a few shops around here that revolve around Subaru’s so I’ll reach out if I ever need. Thanks again
  6. So upon start up it’s at its worst, which is still quite minimal. I can only hear it while inside the car though. Coasting at a low MPH I can still slightly hear it with RPM fluctuation but it’s definitely worse when I first fire it up. I’m not very mechanically inclined but my wife is pressuring me to just get a new car and keep the Subaru in the garage to work on and play with. I’m afraid I’ll be in over my head
  7. Guys... Girls... My first post here so I’m not sure how this goes. I needed some advice from the community. About 2 weeks ago I noticed a small, subtle knock coming from the engine compartment on my 138k mike 2009 GT. At this point, and 2 dealerships opinions, they say I have piston slap! I don’t like it!! Is this something I trade the car in for, keep it and fix it later, or just keep driving it until the problem tops out. If anyone has advice or ideas please get back to me. My options are open.
  8. I'm from pleasant grove, I don't see too many LGT's down here. P.s. I love the grill on your car.
  9. Provo?! Do I even gotta ask?! Good seeing more LGT owners around here
  10. hmm. Not to sure about that color choice. I'd say a little darker that way it looks charcoal(ish) at one angle then the sun can bring the bronze out when it hits?
  11. weather is getting just right for some fresh cars to be cruising in the Utah mountains...
  12. People... anyone near the SLC area or what?!
