  1. Now there's something I might have to try. I recently repainted my stock grill with plasti dip and that might work well on the lower piece as well (to be removed when it gets worn). Mine is not as visible though, because we have to have the stupid front plate here in WA.

     

    Have you considered painting the piece in the middle in the lower opening in the bumper?

     

    BTW, that is still the sickest tire/wheel combo I have yet seen.

  3. The great thing about OBP is that anything will go with it. Check out all the wheel and photo threads and find the look you like... stealth, bling, simple, etc. If you like a more aggressive look, I think a darker color is better, say black, dark gray or dark bronze. If you are going for a simple and clean look, stick with a regular gold or silver.

     

    My favorite is OBP with Black or a titanium or dark gray!

    The amber piece is attached in two spots (if I remember correctly). It was either glued or melted together when originally assembled, so you if you want to remove just the amber piece then you will have to carefully break off the amber piece at the two attaching points. I used a razorblade to help break the amber piece off and shave off any extra amber color that remains (I only had to scrape off a little bit). Sand paper would also work.

  5. I don't have powder coated wheels but was considering purchasing some rims that needed to be refinished. I was thinking about doing a color similar to the Rota Hyperblack. A color that can be both a little darker and a little lighter depending on the outside light. I think the black looks good, but it is too dark for my taste, and I don't want to be as light as the silver on your BBS Wheels. Something in between will look really good.

     

    Love those rims. Can't wait to see the results once you make up your mind.

  6. I had no problems with the grill. I actually was able to get the grill off before I figured out how to get the bumper off. The lower part of the grill is attached from the back side by four screws while the upper part is attached by the plastic pop-its and plastic screws (they should be pretty obvious). They are small and fairly hidden, so if you can get the bumper off, it is much easier to get the grill off second. I was able to reach up behind the grill and use one of my wife's small mirrors to find the screws. That's the more difficult way to go though.

     

    Another little note on the headlights. You can see that my lights still have the "ribs" where the corner lenses/blinkers are located. When you go to remove the amber color, if you don't like the ribs you can remove the entire piece of plastic that contains the amber and ribs. I had to break the amber piece off and do a little sanding to clean up the corner piece with the ribs. Not a big job, but extra work if you don't like the extra stuff in the headlight housing. I didn't realize this till I was already done, but I still like the look. I think the plastic ribs help throw the blinker light around. Just thought you might like to know that that option is available. If you look around through the forums you can find a few 08-09 LGT's that have removed the entire corner piece. I think it looks good both ways.

     

    You can kind of see what I was talking about with the headlight corner in this image. Unfortunately I don't have a better image of the bumper.

  7. I have a 2009 LGT. Hopefully these pictures will help you see what is hidden under the lights and wheel wells. You can see that the top of the bumper has a row of "clips" along the length. First be sure you have removed all the plastic screws. I think there are about 7 along the bottom edge of the bumper and two or three on each side. The toughest one is in the upper front part of the wheel well... you have to pull the plastic liner back to reach it because it is hidden. Once you have all the screws off, you have to pull the bumper off beginning with one side. The plastic "clips" are actually part of the bumper, they wont come off separately. It's pretty scary, but you have to tug pretty hard to get it started. You can pull with one hand and press in on the body above the bumper with the other hand. Try to get one "clip" to come off, then you can work your way around. Make sure to have something under the bumper like cardboard to keep it from scratching.

  8. Looks like your doing good so far. I took everything off to be safe, including the wiring and the bulbs (don't forget the small corner bulbs). Just remove the clip (where the lights attach) and thread it through the light housing. It's a tight fit, but it will go through. I was PARANOID about the heat, so I took the light out, put it in, took it out, put it in, etc. That didn't work too well, so give it enough time to heat up the seal. Then start prying at one corner (pick where you can best hold onto the light) and work your way around. It's hardest at first, but once the seal begins to break, it gets easier.

  9. I'm clearing my headlights out this weekend. Finally got off the stupid 08-09 bumper. (pain in the neck until you actually figure it out). Got everything pulled apart and am ready to pull apart the lights.

     

    I wanted to know what type of silicone people are using to re-seal. I have searched around and noone has actually stated a brand that they have used and that works. I was planning to use a little silicone just to help make sure I don't have any breaks in the seal. I already have DAP brand Acrylic Latex Caulk Plus Silicone sitting on the shelf. It is for indoor/outdoor around the house projects and is waterproof. Will this work well enough or do I need to buy something else that is specifically silicone? Thanks for any comments.

    I think this is a great looking car. The stance is just about perfect for a legacy. It has some serious attitude but isn't too aggressive. The rims are a little too busy for my taste but they look awesome on your car. Nice setup all around!

     

    I like the headlight corner pieces. They make the front of the car look much more sleek. What are they/ where did they come from?
