Okay, it's been 5 days now since I installed my Eibach's. The rears sit nice, about a two finger gap, but the fronts are still about the same as stock. Its a 3 finger gap. Should it be taking this long to settle, or is there perhaps an install problem?
It's a Bilstien problem, cut half a coil off your front springs. I had to do this with my cobb springs as the front didn't go much lower than stock
-
So what's the point in installing new springs if the car doesn't sit any lower? I had this issue with my cobb springs, the front ended up pretty close to stock height so I cut a coil off to lower it evenly with the rear

hey guys i'm looking to lower my spec b. and was looking at either cobb springs or H&R springs. has anyone used these before? if so how was your experience with them? also I heard swift springs give the car a pretty good stance, what is the drop with those springs and has anyone had a less than positive experience riding on them? thanks for your help guys
Search "cobb" in this thread and you'll find everything I've got to say about mine

I've got cobbs with bilsteins and the drop isn't much from standard. I cut a coil off the front and the car sits level and rides a lot better
-
Have you got a photo with the swifts installed? I'm disapointed with the height of my Cobbs... even with the front cut 1/2" lower
This is how it sits now

From what I've found there isn't any decent spring options for Bilsteins. I've got Bilsteins and Cobbs and had a similar problem to you with the rear sagging and feeling soft. I cut a coil off the front springs which lowered the front around 1/2 inch and the car drove much better. Now the rear doesn't sag on acceleration like it use to. I think the problem is the level of the car, not the stiffness of the springs

My Bilstein/H&R combo takes some bumps a little rough, not certain if its just the harder ride. Bumpstops on the Bilsteins are internal
Have you got a photo of the Bilstein/H&R combo? How much did it drop the car?
-
They won't be only in the front. However the fronts run different top hats which make the front of the car sit around 15mm higher than what the aftermarket spring company says they will

I've got JDM 2.0GT factory bilsteins and they look the same as the JDM SpecB externally, but the ride is a LOT different between the two. The JDM SpecB shocks are way too stiff and had many complaints, hence why they softened them in the 07 facelift
-
I believe stock USDM Spec B and 3.0R Bilsteins are the same as JDM LGT Rev. C. Bilstein HDs are more stiffly valved.

Pinks are a pretty mild upgrade and should work w/ the bump stop mod.
If that's the case then get them re-valved 20% stiffer. I've done that with my JDM 2.0GT and the handling was greatly improved and ride is still nice
-
^^^ he's already got bilsteins
-
No they won't
-
Spec-B uses different springs than the std legacy GT, so ride height is slight different as well. That being said, the drop is less based on the OE height of the spec B compared to std. If you measure the height from the center of the axle to the fender ledge, it would be the same for both AFTER a spring install.

I am under the impression that a Spec-B won't be as low with the same aftermarket springs fitted?? I've just Cobbs in mine and it still looks stock!

Ok, update on the Cobb springs . . . now having over 1500 miles on them the ride has become more harsh now that they've settled in. The stance looks simply phenomenal, however, decent bumps/pot holes freakin hurt. I've definitely bottomed out the front end a couple times. With that said, in my personal opinion: if you don't mind having to dodge/slow down for bumps+holes and you do lots of meets/shows, go Cobb . . . if you want a more liveable DD, I suggest Eibach's.
Here's a good pic of the final stance:

That sits really well, so with the Bilsteins my front should sit around 0.5-0.75" heigher than that? Why the hell do Bilsteins have a heigher front and same rear??
-
Cobb list a 1.75" front and 1" rear drop
The only difference I'm aware of is the Bilstein front top hats which makes the car sit around 1/2" heigher than stock KYB's. I also considered the wagon sits around 1/4" lower in the rear than sedans (which is what Cobb measures are taken from)
So taking this all into account I should have got a 1.5" front drop and 1.25" rear drop

I installed Cobb springs yesterday on my LGT wagon with Bilsteins and they have only given me a 3/4" drop all round. I know the Bilteins have different tophats and don't go as low as standard GT shocks, but I thought it would have gone a little lower???
I've heard of people talk about springs settling, has anyone had their Cobbs settle and go a little lower after a few weeks???
-
@NZGT I don't think stock Outback springs would even fit in Bilstein HDs and if I did cram them in there they would be so compressed they are really not designed to function that way... I have a feeling they would be a terrible match as far as spring rate/dampening rate but I appreciate the suggestion nonetheless.
My suggestion was to use stock LEGACY springs with Bilstein HDs, not Outback springs. This would lower your car to Legacy level and give a decent performance upgrage
-
Looks better on the swifts, but guessing you wern't happy with the ride?
-
The front stocks are the same but the rears are longer. Just slap some Bilstein HD's in with some stock LGT springs
-
If you want to lower an Outback why not just put stock Legacy suspension in it??
-
STI pink springs would suit you best, the drop is hardly noticable
-
You guys should be measuring from the centre of the wheel to the guard for spring height comparisons. Measuring to the ground is effected by wheel and tyre size, and even how much tyre pressure you run and how much tread you have
-
That looks mint. I was expecting the rear drag being a wagon, but the level is perfect IMO
-
Well it seems as though Cobb no longer makes springs for my 05 wagon, Eibach no longer makes springs for it either so:mad:....I guess I will test Oklahoma's roads and put the S-Techs in. I know, I know I will probably regret it but IPR wants a 53 dollar restocking fee so if I hate them I will box them up and throw them in the loft with the rest of the used parts:lol: I really don't see many options. So Koni's and Tiens it is. Thanks for all the Help, digs etc. Will post pics for approval/disapproval when done.
I bought Cobb springs about 3 weeks ago for my 05 wagon
lowering springs recommendations/suggestions please
