That's a steal, some people just can't even be bothered. Even if the repair costs $2k it's worth it

The Ecotec swap for sure is not a blow your mind swap but it totally modernizes the driving experience. Having all that TQ down low along with OBD2 tuning capabilities is great

May be selling mine in the not to distant future to fund a GM LFA V6 swap

Is that a 2.0 from a NC Miata in a NA?
Better, it's a 2.4 from a gm product

Just gonna leave these here

The issue with the top is it doesn't seem to be sealing right at the windshield header. I have the top latches tight as possible and still has a bit of a gap. If I could get that gap sealed properly it'd be alright. It doesn't leak water just lots of wind noise.
Are you running a roll bar?
I had to make a pvc pipe that wedges in between the latch handle at the front bow to the roll bar top hoop. Need it for the bikini top but it helps keep that front bow sealed on the soft top too.

Yea I think i'm still making the most power (outside of the guys who developed the swap) out of the guys ive seen do it. The motor will happily accept boost due to factory forged internals as well.
torque curve is my favorite part as the car still isnt that fast. As for the road noise, yeah the only benefit to putting up the soft top is not getting wet when it rains. Otherwise its stuffy, and pretty much just as loud.
I prefer to run my home made bikini top, keeps you cool in the heat, and it looks sweet.

Thanks so much Scruit. This was always a job that I wanted to tackle and have had fears about.
After reviewing your video, it looks to me like a ~6 hour job for a newbie with the proper tools (and forgoing any seized bolts).
It also seems completely reasonable for a guy with the right tools, a garage space, and (just in case) another vehicle as a back-up for worst case scenarios.
Joe
too lazy to look forward and see how this guy made out in clutch swap...
but holy hell the first time I attempted this was a total nightmare. Not that it was too challenging...it was just a HUGE PITA. Total job took me about 20 hours of labor doing it solo sans the help of a friend to put the tranny back under the car and in place. The special hex size for the bolts totally screwed me which landed me cutting up the face of the factory flywheel where the bolts hide.
Since then I've pulled the motor and trans again due to having to rebuild it. So seeing that I did that work about 26K miles ago and put it all back together with anti seize, I'm hoping this time through should be a breeze. But its still a pain of a project.
BTW this was an awesome walk through and helped me tremendously with my first go.

Was on county route 111 between the long island expressway and sunrise highway and saw a nice 05 white gt with black wheels/grill. Looked lowered, nice ride.

Since I've heard from several sources to avoid full synthetic oils in a built motor, I went a different route than my usual castrol 5w-30 oil change and jumped on 4 quarts of Rotella Triple T 15w-40 and a half quart of Lucas. Lets see how this one works out

Less than 500 miles away from turning 100k! Holy chow have we come far from 29k in June 09'. 8k miles into a new motor other than that only had to change out one clutch and a wheel bearing.

You guys are thinking wayyy to far into this, if your worried about piston slap on warmup...just never shut down the engine, problem solved! All joking aside...anybody consider running a block heater to offset the amount of time it takes for the car to warm up and reduce slap time?

I am mucho jealous, #449 is my daily driver and i've put close to 30,000 miles on it since june of 09' And my other car is a limited edition 86' jag so driving either one daily isn't helping my situation!

Hey Rodan, Are you running those 225's are 15x8's? Hows it feel?? Currently running 205 Star specs on 15x8 and very happy with the direct feel of steering input. However, Would love to have some more mechanical grip and an enclosed trailer may be coming before race wheel/tire setup this season.
