  1. Found out today my A/C blows warm as well :( Popped the hood on the side of a major highway and made sure my A/C Compressor clutch engages.. and sure enough, it does...

So on Saturday I'll take my car to work and hook the A/C Machine up to it, see if i have any refrigerant, if not.. then I'll add the dye, if I do.. then I'll go from there

Oh yeah.. just to inform everyone, it's possible for a component to leak other than the condensor (to bluechipbmw).. also, whenever you open the A/C system (replace a component), you should always replace your receiver/dryer as well, due to the moisture in the atomosphere can saturate the dessicant :) I'll keep you guys updated..

That stinks..so I guess I shouldn't order one until I find where the leak is coming from. Keep me posted on your situation.

  2. that was my first impression until someone else told me.....if ur low or dont have any freon than u have a leak. is this true? can freon get consumed after awhile that you do need to get refilled? sorry for the dumb question...but I have no clue about a/c systems
  3. One of the more common reasons for this is a hole in the condensor. It only takes a pinhole to do it. If you look at the front of the car, everything you see that looks like a radiator is really a combined condensor/radiator. Whole thing needs to be replaced if that is the issue. This is not covered under warrenty, it's wear and tear, like a busted windsheild. I learned all this the hard way.

my a/c isn't working either...i dont hear the clutch kick on. I havent checked the fuse which should probably be my first step but I have a feeling its what your saying.

by any chance do u know the part #? or where I can find it? i think this is my problem...whats the best way of finding out if it needs to be replaced? do i have to fill it and see or hear if there is a leak?

    thanks

  4. I have also started to hear some whining from the shifter/ transmisson area along with the growling rear. Has anyone heard the whinig trans too? It seems to go away after a couple miles.

I also have the whining/humming sound. It happens consistenly/noticeable when I am doing 50mph or more but you can only hear it when I am doing a constant steady speedy. As soon as I let my foot off the gas I don't hear it and as soon as I accelerate I don't hear it. Based on someone else on the board they had their center diff replaced and it went away.

  5. saw a silver LGT w/spt stickers coming over the TZ bridge around 7:15 am today

saw another silver LGT on the merrit pkwy a little past stamford around 7:45 am today

one of you 2 guys has to be on here.

if it was about 7:15...it would have been me. I was checking out the traffic on the other side which started in New Canaan (car accident)...thank God it was on the other side! I'm sure you saw it too.

  6. huge warning to all merritt pkwy drivers!! the staties have finally decided to seriously patrol the merritt. i drive it every day and in the last week, they have stepped up enforcement between exits 39 and 48.

i saw over 10 staties on my drive home with 3-4 of them gunning off the road. i came so close to getting a ticket tonight. luckily, there was a volvo wagon who was speeding in front of me and i sensed there was a cop around the area and i slowed down while he didn't. needless to say, the volvo is hating me now:icon_mrgr

what type of radar do they use? my passport didn't even go off:icon_conf

for the next few days/weeks gotta be a boyscout on my commute!

Wow....this is good to know. I also commute on the merritt everyday. I get off at exit 40b. My average speed is around at min. around 75mph-85mph. I never see a cop on the merritt unless there was an accident.

Thanks again.....I will keep my eyes opened!
