For those of you with kw's on a "winter" setup would you say they are baby friendly? How do they handle gravel washboard?

Ok let me get this straight if i have a 06 STI trans i can use my stock 06 LGT driveshaft rear and axles unless i want to go with a DCCD?
No
-
04-05 doesn't have DCCD right? Does your 08 have si drive?
Yes it does, spec b 6speeds don't have dccd. Yes.
-
You need a 04-05 with stock diff on a 09. I have a 05 6 speed in my 08 with the stock diff and the 2.5i driveshaft.

Its in the first post of this and http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/nsfws-6mt-swap-thread-143520.html thread.

Ya thankfully mine is a 5 speed so I dont have that problem.

Also, a little bit of information for those that get an STi shift linkage. You can buy a 07+ Spec B stay rod and shifter rod so that it puts the shifter in the center of the console opening. You will reuse the STi shift lever and reverse lockout cable as well as the rubber boot thing on the bottom. If you plan on upgrading to an aftermarket shifter and are using the STi shift linkage, only 04-07 STi lever will work as after having a discussion and sending pictures to Tom @ Kartboy, he said that only the 04-07 STi shift lever will work with the STi linkage setup.
Part #'s for those that have STi shift linkages and want to center their shifters without cutting/welding/spacing:
Spec B Shifter Rod: 35041AG020
Spec B Shifter Stay: 35031AG020
Might be a nice to add to the first post.

Oh how I want a 6 speed wagon. What trans did you get and what car is it going into?
05 6 speed into a 08 Legacy gt wagon.
It is nice to be able to throw a 6 speed and all the goodies in the back. That is why I built my wagon instead of buying something different!
Lol I would have but it was a long drive so it went into the trunk of my 84 bmw euro diesel.

Went for a drive and came back with a transmission in my trunk....
6 speed wagons FTW!

Its a decent price I have seen a kit from a 08 for $2800 though. Only the vendor doesnt want to ship
Silverline has their stuff on ebay now.

Anyone know a trustworthy source for a 6 speed under 3k?
-
If by 5spd you mean a wrx's 5sp clutch, then yes it will work in the 6spd, you just need to use the 5mt flywheel too. As for the 07 trans with 05 legacy gt axles, they work just fine. I just installed a 07 6spd two days ago in my 05 LGT, and kept all 4 legacy axles.
DK
Any thoughts on this? Aany reason that he is wrong?

Can we switch this out with the stickyed one? They have conflicting information.

How does the car run in the cold? How cold does it get where you live?
Thanks!
