  1. Ordered this kit (I phone pro for 05 legacy GT) over 3 years ago, and its been working most awesomely, until recently that is.

The male adapter that plugs into my iPhone recently broke some cables. Hence my phone can continue to charge but doesn't play music anymore. Anyone know where i can get a replacement cable (that will play & charge) as a replacement. Looked on their site (http://www.jazzyengineering.com/) but wasn't confidant. Any help / guidance would be welcomed. I miss my music, this kit was excellent.

  2. Is 81812AG03B the only part we need? It's hard to tell from the various diagrams what 81812AG03A is...

Thanks to everyone - saved a lot of headaches..

I don't think it really matters. I personally wouldn't recommend replacing with a factory harness (Subaru has not improved the wires within it). I personally recommend re-soldering some better wires through the accordion section. Much better (and less expensive) alternative.

  3. How long is the harness? Could you make your own using better wire?

    Maybe I should have clarified;

I replaced my first harness with a SUBARU factory harness. On the second harness they used the same crap wires that were in my original harness. Hence my original factory harness, and my second SUBARU factory harness both crapped out.

I then simply replaced all the wires that pass through the accordian with ones I soldered myself i.e. no more crap Subaru wiring :)

Sorry, I wasn't trying to confuse.

  4. I decided to just replace the entire harness.

I chose to go with a new harness, but I think if you choose to fix all the wires in the loom it may be less time consuming. I just didn't trust the fix long term. I hope this harness is good for at least another 10 years!

I did that my first time round, but the same crappy wires were used. Bought me another 3 years, but in the end, had to re-do it again. Soldered them the second time. Hoping (fingers crossed) it will last me at least another 3-4 years :).

  5. Radio went out, dealer replaced the antenna amp, and not fixed. (they didn't even check the radio after replacing the part. I found the fix on the Outback forum. Indeed, a broken antenna wire under the left boot. New wire spliced in, and radio fixed. Now to figure out how to feed it through the boot, like factory.

I love when dealers check the quality of their work!!!

As for feeding the wire through, I used a hollow pen. Just feed the pen through the accordion, fish the wire through it, than pull out the pen...volia :)

  6. Finally had the opportunity to post pictures.

Opened up both accordions (driver and passenger sides). Had two wires failed on the driver side and 5 on the passenger side.

Spend the good part of a Saturday cutting and soldering 12 wires (did some others as preventive maintenance). Now, my harness is all the same type of (and stronger / still maluable) wire through the accordions.

Eat it Subaru. Spent $20 (and 5hrs), while Subaru wants $350 to change something that really should be a never fail item!

  7. The antenna wiring goes through the boot on the drivers side.

    Good luck...

    Cheers,

    Mike

Subscribed since I'll be doing this for the 2nd time shortly.

First time, my tailgate wouldn't lock. Dealer wanted $375 to replace. Found a harness from a wrecked wagon, and installed. Worked amazingly for about 3 years. Now, radio is poor / weak, the door locks but the car doesn't read whether its open or closed (dash). The heating element doesn't work and my rear wiper is actually intermittent (i.e. it stops where / when it wants when you switch it off).

I should just replace the whole tailgate (seems almost easier) but looks like ill be replacing BOTH (Driver and passenger) harnesses to remedy this. Ba hum bug.

  8. Not a pro at this by any means, just pulling info from my previous research on my own personal SS error

Having codes as stated in title have already changed out Front Driver ABS/wheel speed sensor with a Subaru oem one and it still showing its bad which is the c0104..any input greatly appreciated

C0104 = Front ABS wheel speed sensor LH

I have the abs light on and the err ss in my odometer. How can I diagnose which one is bad? Does anyone have a DIY on how to diagnose and replace?

    1-) http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/error-ss-speed-sensor-faulty-ecu-uniti-91831.html?t=91831&highlight=p0500

If you follow this procedure (if its an 05 legacy only), than you should be able to pull a code from the dash.

    2-) http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/cel-codes-05-legacy-5876p3.html?highlight=p0546

Once you have the code, cross reference it with --the .pdf at the bottom of the above thread.

3-) Or if you have an OBD II code reader, it may pump you out the code :).

    Good luck :)

  9. Hey peeps with Canadian cross bars... Does anyone know where I can find the 'feet' that slide into the track for flush mounting the actual ski rack to the bars? I've got the Thule ski ski rack that fits fine right now by clamping around the whole aero bar, but I think if I can mod it to bolt through the ski rack it will look prettier and be more secure.

You don't have the Thule Aero bars do you? I asked my tech guy and he said they weren't making any feet to fit the Aerobars on the 05 wagons?

  10. Ohai Mendozer. ;)

I had a 1600 originally but it wouldn't fit my XC skis.

The "skis" part is the problem right there .

Boards fit poorly in these boxes. But the 1600 was the widest and tallest that fit on my car. There are a few alternate (very long) options for those people with unimaginable length skis:).

  11. Now I know these aren't "low profile" but they sure work.

Keep in mind that these cars are now 8 years old. Many of the roof rack companies may not be updating their product to make them fit better on these "older" cars.

    Anyways, I've found this to work nicely;

2005 Legacy GT limited wagon with sunroof.

Thule Atlantis 1600 XT black --- 686 BXT

-Thule Specialty railing carrier with load bars 440.

-SR2 Short roofline kits (SR kits).

    and this is the result (sorry about the pics---most are cell phone);

    Clears tailgate = Yes,

Use of sunroof while box is on = no

Noisy = No (If I have just the cross bars on yes, but with the box on you don't actually hear anything -quiet as can be-)

Hangs over windshield = No (box nose is directly above top of windshield)

Box opens from both sides so very easy access

  12. I think I may be the first to report a Hog-Zawst failure

Turns out after about 3 years, and awesome Canadian winters, the hardware holding the muffler to the Y-pipe finally failed!

I don't blame Hog-Zawst...I blame the operator (me). Why buy cheap hardware?

Anyways, 5 min run to the store...$3 later and Hog-Zawst is fixed. Again with the same cheap hardware, but the way I see it, this will buy me another 2 years

This time I upgraded to stage 3 rather than the mediocre stage 2 I had previously = AWESOME

And Hog-Zawst failure number 2 :) the LH hdw finally let go. Those lasted about 4 years...not too shabby...

Quick run to the hardware store. Should be fixed by the evening :)

Still digging the sound soooo many years later.

  13. I don't get the CEL or flashing cruise, but otherwise have the same problem. PDX Tuning diagnosted that it was a bad right front speed sensor. Then they promptly went out of business, or at least stop wrenching on cars.

So today, I replace my right front speed sensor. It's a simple 10 minute job. Unfortunately, I take the car for a test drive and while the clicking is gone, when I hit 40 MPH, the ABS light is back on and "ERR SS" shows up again!

    WTF?

Anyone know how to make this go away that does not involve a trip to the stealer? They wanted $90 bucks minimum to R&R this sensor. PDX Tuning was the same price, but they don't do this anymore.

    Thanks.

Bringing an old thread from the dead. Also got this code (I suck at searching this site, since I clearly didn't find this previously...used Google :S)

Anyways, any follow-up to either of the above? I'm about to perform this operation (replacement) tonight!? Fingers crossed, everything goes well and the CEL goes away

  14. None of them will charge your phone. They all have a cable to exit the dash at some point and plug directly into your phone. I recommend the pro kit because that comes with a ground loop interrupt (when you're charging your phone it won't allow excess noise to come through the stereo)

Your comment is not necessarily true, the pro-kit does come with a cable that charges your IPhone.

I'm not sure how to add a table into a thread, but I did set-up a table to help you guide through which kit suits you best. Also, these were last year, so I don't know if the items are still valid. Use at your own discretion.

^poor effort, but gets this gist of it across

My personal recommendation...the Subaru pro Ipod kit. Have had it for 1.5 years now and I LOVE IT!!!
