My personal EDM OB has JDM Spec B aluminum suspension plus 1.5 inch suspension drop and I have no problem (no cutting on stock OB rubber bump stop)
-
Will replacing the rear trailing arm and rta bracket give me more travel and get me off of my bump stops?
On JDM/EDM versions, swapping out the OB upper suspension arm (cast steel unit) with legacy version will automatically give you more travel since the Legacy version is less "chunky"
So I assume the USDM is also similar.

Great write up!!
I have installed JDM S402 Aluminum Upper Control Arm & Trailing arm on my 07 OB 3.0R without problem.
They are 7-8lbs lighter on each side than stock arms.

From what I read on this website the difference in ride height between Legacy and Outback comes from both
a) larger wheels on the Outback
b) longer struts
You are correct!!
I have tried to install stock Legacy struts and springs on my Outback and the result:
The springs are pretty much the same length when compared side by side
The strut body is longer
When installed:
Front: it dropped my front end about 2inches (1 finger gap left in front)
Rear: It does fit my stock rear top hats for KYB self-leveling struts and springs..... The stock top hat is matched to the smaller diameter springs designed for the self-leveling struts
Result: I have to re-install everything back and have my car re-aligned again.....
$100 bux down the drain

Euro Outback 3.0R has KYB rear self-leveling struts and dedicated springs
Bilstein BTS kit for Outback "DOES NOT" reduce ride height (maybe a little, as USDM Outback sits a little higher than EDM Outbacks), you need to buy Bilstein BTS kit for BP5 Legacy for 15mm drop from JDM/EDM Legacy ride height.

#2) Taipei, Taiwan (roads here suck!!!)
#3) Commute Only

#5) Yokohama G900 215-55-17 (stock rubber on Outback 3.0R)
#6) Out of 10: Dry 8.5 , wet 9, and snow N/A,
Very comfortable for UHP tire, quiet too, except on certain road surfaces of the highway.

I also modified my Koni shock body to give me a 2 inch height adjustment at the rear suspension. to prevent saggy butt....
