Subaru's maintenance-friendly engineering is one of the things that did impress me. There are always tradeoffs, so perhaps some infrequent items like plug changes or timing belts are going to be a bear.
I thought the exhaust and suspension are relatively well packaged. Sure, you can see the pipes, but the mufflers are tucked in well--it's not the hideous rear view of many sedans and SUVs. I'd guess dual mufflers help reduce noise without too much added backpressure. Not sure why Outback tips are hidden and Legacy tips are visible.

Does this sound good only on Subies because of our boxer burble, or would this "patented washer technology" also work on other cars? Just curious if it's making as big a splash elsewhere.

I've gotta try this... y'all just using washers, or going Deluxe with the copper half-gasket?

Thanks for the report. That's very useful info about the Cobb front sway... so we can shop for any WRX or LGT bar and use it?
Thanks!
Just installed the Cobb Fr and Rr sways on my 07 OBXT - so far no issues.Of note, I previously owned a WRX wagon and had a set of Cobb Sways for that vehichle - when I sold the WRX, I removed the sways and have been trying to sell them. At the time, I didn't realize that Cobb used the same front swaybar for all Subaru's, so I bought another set, this time of the 05+ LGT bars. After receipt of the new bars, I read that they were indeed the same bar. What was interesting was that when I held the old WRX bar against the new LGT bar, the old bar was ~ 1/2" longer, so I used that one instead of the new one.

I have a 2005 Outback XT Wagon and my connectors look nothing like your picture. I have two connectors on the fire wall and out of all the wires none of them is solid white. Does anyone have any suggestions?
You must be looking in the wrong place. Go back to the first post. It's pretty clear. You are looking for connectors (not individual wires), on the left of the footwell.

Well, there's a shocking amount of wiring in there... I think you found the right ones... if you look up in there, the white one has a label on the circuit board that it's connected to that says DRL or something equally obvious.

shit i'm having a real hard time putting the board back in... cant put the screw head back into the hole
Make sure the pop-out piece is popped-out while you're trying to put them back in. Otherwise, they're in their expanded position and won't go in.

I think Subaru re-arranged some wires in there on the 07s....they DO read these boards!!!
Evidently, but why bother? The "well-known" undocumented Subie mods are a good thing they had going. Let people do what they want, but Subaru doesn't become accountable because it's not officially condoned. I happen to love these little Easter Egg features.
Now, someone please find out how to play MP3 on the standard 2005 stereo--what an annoying omission in this age... it's analogous to having a cassette player instead of CD.

Amazing review. Thank you very much!

That middle attachment is so difficult to get off.. how did you guys get it off so easily?
You just pull the panels apart, but support both so that nothing tears. Use your fingers to pry as near to the plastic rivet as possible. It will pop off, and you just pop it back in when done.

I'm in the DFW (Dallas) area. Not so many Subies down here.

Thanks to the very helpful Subaru fanatics on this board, I'm also a new-to-Subaru owner of an '05 Outback XT Ltd Wagon.
Can't wait to finish the break-in period.

I wasn't able to get any satisfaction on the key fob thing... I'd like to hear how yours goes.
