  1. Just wanted to give an update for you guys. I reset the misfire code, then messed around with the GFB bov. I ran it 50/50 but couldn't adjust it correctly and would stall. I put it back to full recirc and adjusted the valve so that it idle's fine again. It is now almost fully neg, the adjustment bolt is slightly higher than the bov. Is my bov bad? Should I replace it?
  2. After that I drained and wiped the tank. Ran a tank of race gas. Ran perfect. Once he went back to 91, crap.

I pulled a plug and checked color and gap. All good. But, I figured the race gas would run better with the colder plugs. So, I intended to swap back to OEM plugs and see what happened. I dont see how all four injectors went south at the same time. His fuel pressure seems good too. I see no codes thrown from the cam oiling valves.

Car just misfires and stalls at idle (once warm). It is even "intermittent". Lets see how long the BPV plays nice now.

Such great service ;) goes get race gas then drives down to my house only to drain tank and put the race gas.

Bad part is it's happening again. The misfire does seem to appear only when it's warmed up. But once the check light goes off, the stumble will stay even after reseting the code. Weird thing is it seems to appear near half tank.

Yeah it was too tight, I backed it out about 1 1/2 turns and ran like a champ.. NO probs... yet. I had the same crap happen with my Blitz valve. I have to readjust every so offten. ????

I messed with the BOV a little more but still getting the stumble. I installed the stock BOV for a day a couple of weeks ago and it didn't go away

In the wagon I never got enough spring pressure to fight the compressor. Using the stiffer spring and 100% recirc (on a FMIC) causes the car to stall (all cars). I would recommend going 50/50 on the BPV and using the stiffer spring. The lighter spring is currently installed.

So, really you made no adjustments. All you did was move the spring pretension some. Like I said, I did this through the entire range moving at 1/2 turn increments. I had the same results as you. As soon as I started playing with the BPV everything was happy again. Next day, crapped out. Could try another BPV (OEM) as a test (I had none available at the time). But I fear the problem still exists.

It is an odd one, since the car ran fine before sitting. But if I could have the car for more than a few hours I am sure I can get it dialed in. I would love to get the OEM plugs back in and pull some data, then have Shamar look at the tune and fueling for me. I dont have a spare spring for the GFB, I have the lighter one spare. But I can get another and try that too. Would be easy to swap to an OEM BPV and use it as a test for day or two.

I'll go ahead and try the 50/50 setting for the bov tomorrow. Then I'll try the stock one again. socalsleeper helped me out with the spark plugs so stock plugs are back into the car.

I'll keep you guys updated. So good having you guys close enough without having to make the trip all the way to LA

  3. Any updates with the car? Did you finish the bumper?

Not to thread jack, but I finished with mine. Not even having it for a week, makes me think I should have went with black. This will be a chore to keep clean. Also I should have had it laminated.

  4. Still looking good. All you need now is your doors and front bumper. Good luck with the front. I had to make some seams for the fog light portion:

    Front Bumper:

Be careful when stretching the vinyl inside the opening, I couldn't stretch mine enough and came up short. Had to do a lot of "patching" but eh... I'm fine with it.

Question, when you have too much vinyl in one area and it's in the middle (like the rear bumper right in the middle) how did you work the extra material?

  5. ArcTec34,

Great work! Looks flawless. I figured it would be helpful for others to see some problem areas and some helpful tips. Some of this stuff didn't occur to me until I finished and redid the entire panel because of that one little part.

    1. Door handles. In the above picture is how the door handle looked before cutting it. Cut around the door handle itself (the red outline). Carefully remove and pull down that piece so that it can be bent underneath the handle. Be careful when pulling down on the vinyl, as it may tear further than your cut. With your heat source warm up the bottom of the handle and work your way up. This will allow you enough material to get underneath the handle. Cut off access. Place a new piece on the door handle and done.

    2. Window trim of the door. I did not remove it but with a sharp exacto I slid it on top of a very thin pry tool. I pressed the pry tool hard to the bottom of the window trim and slid that along.

Tip - at the end of the door trim (towards the rear) cut up before reaching the end of the trim. As the trim does not go all the way across the door. Well at least for wagons. This is so that you can wrap the vinyl around the last bit of door.

    3. Rear door. Leave a lot of access on both sides, mainly the towards the front. The rear door goes behind the front (again this is so for wagons). Leave enough so you can tuck the vinyl.

    4. Remove gas cap. That one was easy but I forgot you can take it off

I wish you were closer so we could help each other. Good luck

  6. Looks great. You seem to be moving along quickly. I'm scared to tackle the roof and bumpers

The hood scoop seam doesn't even show up in your zoomed out picture. I think your right when it comes to seams/patches. I patched a hole I made on the hood but couldn't really notice until you got closer to the car. It bothered me too much so and redid the hood again.

Thanks for the tips and help. Let me know if you need any advice as well

  7. I take it things did not work out well.

To answer your question I'm sure there are plenty of guys on the forum( myself included) that would be happy to help you out. But if you want to take youR car to a shop. As a former auto technician I can only recommend you drop it off and rent a car for a weekend. Most local business offer military discounts you don't want to rush the work. Because we are all human and can over look things from time to time ( sorry morning woodie wagon). But I have heard good things about. Harman motive and yimi sport.

I haven't had a chance but I highly recommend socalsleeper. He did my clutch install as well as 60k service. His experience showed with his attention to detail. He also answered all my stupid questions while he did the work . I'm enjoying the clutch and the car feels great. Thanks again, will be contacting you for more work in the near future :).

  8. Has anyone tried EDO? I'm wondering because I'm still trying to fix what I asked them to install. Back in Nov I asked them if they could install headers/ turbo/ fmic/ extend my downpipe/ injectors/ fuel pump and get a tune using an AP . They assured me they can do it so I left my car with them for a week and half. It was okay by me since I live in San Diego and I could leave my car up there.

In the middle of the week they call me telling me they can't use the AP because they do not have a license to tune the car. It was too late to get my car back as they already started doing the install. I contacted Jon about tunning my car, he agreed and sent me a base map so I can drive my car after EDO was done with it. This is before Jon had his shop.

When I met up with Jon, he went out of his way to help me get my car running right and looking like it should. He adjusted my fmic as the bumper was not lined up. Jon tunned my car and ran like a champ. Jon spent a full Sunday 10-10 with me to get my car tunned; a day in which most shops would be closed.

When I took the car from the shop there was a strong smell of exhaust fumes going inside the car. I contacted EDO and they said it's normal and would burn off. But when I looked inside the engine there was a hose that was disconnected on the passengers side of the block. I reconnected it and there was no more smell.

A few months later I was looking underneath my car and looked at my downpipe. They used my stock midpipe to extend my jdm length downpipe. It looked really ugly (I forgot to take a picture) and decided to take it to a muffler shop and have them take off the section that EDO did. Before fixing the downpipe my car would hesitate after coming from a complete stop.

3 weeks ago going to work my car just shut down on the freeway. I get it towed to a local Subaru shop here in San Diego. They tell me it's the fuel pump. I contact Jon and said he can take a look at it. So I have the car towed up to HB speed. He takes the fuel pump apart and shows me that there is no fuel filter, the pump was connected by a rubber hose and was not secured anywhere. It is currently at HB awaiting a new fuel pump assembly.

I don't know if EDO has changed there ways but that is my story to tell. HB speed is the closest to me as I live deep in San Diego (I can see the boarder from my back yard :p ).
