  1. First post in years.  My '08 purchased new in 2007 is almost 18 yrs old now.  180K.  Returned to stock about 6 yrs ago.  I'd sell her if I could get excited about something new.  Right now, I can't really.  I would have bought a second STI, but Subaru made that decision for me.  The Solterra is a joke with its first gen charging technology and pathetic range for $44k.  Sadly, everything Subaru offers now is underpowered for my taste.  So, I'm holding out for something, but what is still the question.  Still a great brand, but I need some additional stock power levels.

  2. ^THIS!

First off, the walkthroughs I had seen made no mention of that air pump hose. Not sure if it was new on the later models, but there was next to no way for me to get my fingers down there to do anything

You missed mine then, post #589, page 40. '08 5EAT - 2ndary air assist pump hose. There is a hose clamp at each end with a bolt holding it to the block near the front. The pump itself doesn't have to be removed, but of you want to, you have to remove an electrical harness with a "quick-disconnect" type of connector. Pinch tab is on the bottom. Then 2 bolts to get the pump off. Its tight so you have to be careful when you slide the front part of the assist hose back into its flange. Glad you got it. Time for me to do mine again  Did it for the second time today. Car purrs. Idles great.

  3. the qsm lgt was shadowsport he was heading home from my house. "The Older Guy"

Looked about my age (31)... Ouch. Pulled up right next to me and didnt look over so I figured not on here.

Saw a QSM 08-09 LGT driving home on pch around 5:30

Oh, I'm an older guy now, huh. Ya I guess I am. I headed south, and took 92 to 280, then south to Mountain View. I was talking with the GF so I might have missed you...

  4. Can someone take a picture of the black air pump with the cover on, on the driver side I would like to compare mine because the plastic screw I found in my throttle body looks like it could belong to that, I just want to be sure so when I talk to the shop that did the job I have all the evidence I need to show they made a mistake.

I recognize that screw. Its a retention screw pop-it from the front airbox scoop. There are two.

  5. I did mine today as well. I removed the battery, airbox, and the secondary air assist pump housing. I did everything from above, except for disconnecting the coil pack plugs and the rear hose clamp on the air assist housing. The bolts on 3 of my coil packs were finger tight from the factory. The 180* rotation while removing suggestion worked perfectly. Driver's side plug removal was easy. New plugs went in just as easy with anti- seize applied. The passenger side was harder. Actually, just the passenger side rear. Had to take a break before I finally got that one in. Reinstalled the airbox, air assist pump body, battery and lower engine cover. Car fired right up! Job took me 3.5 hrs. I'm handy with tools, but am no pro. Car now idles more smoothly, reminds me of when it was new. Pictures are of the pass rear plug cavity, and plug close ups. Bad lighting, all of the plugs looked good with the typical white-ish color indicating a clean burn. Thanks to BoxerGT 2.5 for a great write up and to everyone else for their additional suggestions.

  6. Just got a wake up call. AT in the Girlfriend's Accord just died. Repair was costly. Decided I should change the tranny fluid in my vehicle. A little late in the game 53k, but checked regularly. Thanks to all the posts here I was done in less than 30 min. Fluid looked almost new, still pink, just not bright pink. No burnt smell whatsoever.

'08 5EAT Drain & Fill took 3.7qts, used Subaru ATF.

    Crush Washer Part #11126AA040

8mm allen for the drain plug.

I used to think that tranny fluid should be regularly checked and changed at 100k.

Not anymore after seeing the inside of her tranny. Will now change every 25-30k.

Thanks for all the helpful info.

  7. All Pop-Its not created equal... Hi Guys. I'm trying to identify the correct part number for the pop-its that hold the forward rear mudflap in place. These are not the flaps themselves, but the smaller "protector" for lack of a better word, that sit at the bottom front of each rear wheel well. They do not have a phillips head, and appear to be smaller than those used for the under engine cover... and various other areas.

    This isn't it >> 909130051 - I believe these have a phillips head.

This looks very possible >> 909140007

I've dug around, looked through the vacation pics, etc... All help is appreciated.

  8. 2005 Blue LGT 2.5i sedan parked in the lot here at work. This is just off El Camino in Los Altos. I have yet to see another Legacy sedan on the road. What gives? I drive Hwy 280 from Pacifica to Mountain View everyday. I have not seen another Legacy sedan on the road yet. My car gets looks from WRX's and Outbacks daily. It's funny, I'll often see a WRX closing on me fast from the rear, just as they pass and see my hood scoop, they let off the gas and do a circle around me. I usually get a "Subaru nod", then they speed off. I see all sorts of Subaru's, just not LGT Sedans.
