  1. For paintless dent repair there is a guy in the service garage at Go Honda (104th & Federal) that does some nice work. Our garage door closed on the back of my wife's Honda and left a 6-inch shallow crease in the decklid. He took it out for $50. It looks perfect - literally perfect. Later I took my car to him to have 3-4 small dings taken out. Again, nice work and $50.

You can just stop in any time. He mainly fixes up the used car lot, and if you drop in he'll just put his current car aside and take care of you.

When I get home I'll look up his business card and post details.

Dammit I dropped a snow shovel off my garage wall and it landed on the rear quarter panel of my Shelby...

Looks like I'll make my annual trip to Terry this week. This will be my 5th visit or so... the guy is a magician.

  2. I have a frozen rear toe bolt, so i will need good alignment shop that will deal with it and get me new parts from the dealer. It will def need to be cut, Firestone won't do that.

FWIW, I think they would. They flat out won't do any custom work or work with aftermarket products, but if your stuff is OEM, they'll fix it. They've done all kinds of work on my LGT, Shelby, Wrangler, and Infiniti. Plus, one really great thing about Firestone is the "fix it or it's free guarantee". You won't pay 1 penny for labor or parts if they don't fix your problem. I took my Wrangler into them 6 months ago for a rotational squeak/squeel. Their best bet was the idler pulley. They changed the pulley, but it failed to resolve the issue. I went back the next day and got a full refund for the parts and labor (even though I got the new part). I took it again a few weeks later for another stab at it and it was the water pump.

If I were you I'd take it in to them and just let them discover the problem and deal with it.

  3. I need new front glass and I need tires installed and alignment in the springs area... Recommendations?

Edit: ok auto glass authority for glass. Who for the alignment?

+1 Again for Scott with Auto Glass Authority.. he's now replaced 3 windshields for me. ;)

I use Firestone for alignments on all my cars. I buy the lifetime alignment for every vehicle and ask them to align it every time it is in (for oil changes, tire rotations, etc). If you own your vehicle for more than a year or two lifetime is the no-brainer way to go.

  4. Buying yet another windshield from Auto Glass Authority (Scott, 303-517-2796). I was out racing the Shelby at Bandi tonight and a gust of wind caught my hood, ripped it off the hydraulic supports and threw it into the windshield. Dammit. I'm lucky that there is zero damage to the hood, other than the hydraulic supports and a single small paint chip. Anyhow, Scott's the man...
  5. Wow nice 60' of 1.75! You and your car are doing a fine job on the 1/8th and overall looks fantastic, but it looks like there is room to improve on the back half. Just 20mph gain isn't great for as quick as your car is.

This was actually a really bad racing day for me as I lost power every run with ~100ft to go and coasted through the finish. The car ripped out the 1/8' in less than 8.0s at 90mph but due to heatsoaking it would pull timing and studder around 110mph, at which point I let off throttle and coasted. Very frustrating and this is pretty evident by the fact that I only gained 22mph on the back half! I think 12.2x at 113.x would have been possible if I could have finished a run.

I went another day, prior to this, with temps at 88F hit 12.46@112mph so was really disappointed that I didn't crush my previous record rather than just eek out a slightly better e.t. but worse trap. On the 88F day I was gaining 25mph on the back half so really "shoulda" been hitting easy 114's the nice cool day.

See my vbgarage for some of my dragracing videos and times on various setups.

  7. Also, please understand that cars running E85 don't seem as sensitive to exhaust flow as those on gas. Maybe it's lower EGT and gas volume. I haven't really looked into this.

With E85 you are using less air per whp produced than you would need to produce the same amount of power with gas. So one can get away with a smaller intake and comparing MAFv or MAFg/s with a gas car can't be done. However, I do believe that exhaust volume is greater.. I think that higher cylinder pressures with E85 use are able to overcome restrictive backpressures a little better than gas.

@ fahr_side: You do know that you will forever be receiving PM inquiries from noobs now that you made this thread? ;) Maybe you could encourage them all to post here rather than ask questions privately.

  8. I just used this 0-60mph calculator which is based off dragstrip 1/8 mile splits. Plugging in my 7.986s and 89.08mph trap speed it says my 0-60 time is 3.62, but that calculator might be a little optimistic  Not bad for a stock block TMIC at 6000'. My actual log from the run, though, shows 4.2s elapsed from 0-60mph. But I know I've got speedo error and tire spin so who knows... somewhere in the low 4's, anyhow.
  9. Don't get too excited just yet over how poorly my 20g did! :D

I've had no problem with 20g's up here either on the dragstrip or dyno but yeah you're right was surprised to see a built motor FMIC 20G near sea level slower than me. But I agree you've got better e.t.'s in your future for sure. I'll be more interested in your traps. What fuel will you be using? Do you have a thread or pictures about your cutout? I'm interested in seeing that. Keep up the good work, buddy, and post your slips again. ;)

  10. Great 60'

    Wicked fast 1/8th

Heatsoak, heatschmoke... Thats at practially 6k feet! I like to play in the mountains 5k to 7k but live at sea-level so I get it... Thats plenty wow to me.

Thanks. That was actually my best 60'... Typically I'm around 1.82-1.92. Funny thing is those were brand new 18" summer tires and I've run that strip with this car maybe 50 times and never bested a 1.80. I can't run the 1/4 any more because I will blow the engine. TMIC. The power loss and knock (I've logged it) around 11.5 seconds into the run is really harsh. Only gained 22mph on the back half.

TRSCobra - What car did you race? 28mph on the back half tells me that that guy's car has probably seen high 11's before. Did you delete a post? Thought I saw something about 6mph gain with an exhaust cut-out??
