  1. The shear mechanics of doing a color mod has to make the cutoff go up slightly. No way around it. I'm not saying that my highs are pointed straight down, but there is a difference. Although slight.

Let's just say that 2 washers are 2mm thick. With rough measurements, that would tilt the lens ~1.38°. Not much, but at a distance of 25' that's raising the cutoff nearly 7.25". Again not huge but I do think it something that someone who is considering this mod should keep in the back of their mind.

  2. My high beams were not changed. My low beams however were changed. Perhaps I should have spaced all 3 lens bracket attachment points, but I was getting the best color and sharpness when just the two bottom portion mounting points were spaced. Which in turn angles the lens slightly and thus moves the beam projection upwards.

Here's a illustration of the phenomena at hand:

  3. RX8 lenses should be similar to the LGT lenses, with a light frost on them. Not exactly clear.

I had a thought today that I think some of you should keep in mind.

When you do the color mod, be sure to add 2 more washers to each side of the top shield/bracket attachment. If you choose not to do this or too dumb to figure it out when you do the retro (like me), when you go to re-aim your headlights you will end up with your high beams pointed in the ground.

I really don't want to take mine apart, but it's already bugging the shit out of me :(

  4. The lenses just dropped right in. I think they might have been a little more tight then the stock lenses though. I got them from a junkyard. I went and got their crappiest, broken headlight and they thought I was nuts. One lenses actually had some of the lip broken, I guess the accident was that severe?, but it had just enough lip left to be held by those 3 snaps. Thank goodness, because they make a HUGE difference!
  5. As promised. The biggest pain in the ass was the damn wiring. But that could be because I'm super anal and don't like anything too look like it wasn't originally on the vehicle. But man am I impressed. This setup completely blows my up TSX retrofit out of the water. The RX330's are a really nice projector.

    Anyhow here's the setup:

RX330 Non-AFS w/ Celica super clear lenses and color modded.

    Philips 85122 Bulbs

    Denso Slim Ballasts w/ Cover

  6. 86201AG67A Radio Ay Up2 $450

This is the only part number you need. It is the head unit with the 07 panel assembly attached. The other panel assy is for earlier models. I know because I ordered it through Subaru. The panel assy attached to the 86201AG67A is from the 07. The other number given at the beginning of this thread is unnecessary.

    Thanks for the info I <3 u
