Northwest Region SCCA autocross Novice School http://msreg.com/NWR-SCCA-SOLO-NOVICE2014 March 29th
Only 12 spots left!

I think there's a noise limit for regular events, but we've never had complaints about noise at Bremerton, only at Packwood.

no r comp tires? really? how about shaved tires?
I don't write the rules....
shaved should be fine, just no cords showing.

So many Imprezas signed up, no Legacies?
-
Purchase price + mods, I don't think we've yet spent more than a new sti..
-
If no Legacies sign up, I'm going straight to Carter's Subaru Ballard to put a deposit on an STI.

I'm thinking about signing up for the autoX school. I would be bringing my XT6 but it'll hopefully do just fine. I've never done any autoxing though, any tips?
I also just did a Dirtfish half day course. Holy smokes that was awesome!
If you liked Dirtfish, you'd probably like autocross... rallycross... track... everything.
As for tips? make sure your car doesn't leak, the battery is tied down, tires are good and all matching, and it will do fine. Before upgrading your car, learn how to drive it well.

Of course, you will find they are polar opposites. LGT - overabundant power, not enough lateral grip. Miata - overabundant lateral grip, not enough power.
-
Autox school? Hmm...miata or wagon?
Miata, of course!

SCCA autocross novice school on April 20th
Then a regular event on the 21st.
-
there's like 3 or 4 clubs that do autocrossing around here. Most of them have a novice school in the spring.
http://www.wwscc.org/schedule.html and http://where2race.com/ keep master schedules.

The way my wife drives through traffic, I know she would be good at auto-x. But since it's not her idea, she resists going.
-
I'm just now starting the mod path and finding it more expensive than I expected. I got too used to having no car payment.

The SCCA autocross novice school is coming up in 3 weeks at Bremerton Motorsports Park.

any signs of transmission troubles?
-
thanks guys, I'll go blowtorch shopping tonight.

BP Blaster and/or heat
what do you recommend to heat it up with?

I can't get the lower strut bolt loose on my passenger side front. I even bought a 350 ft lb electric impact wrench and still no dice. Is there anything else I can do to get it loose? if I soak it in wd40 how long should I wait? any other tricks people know?

SCCA autocross #2 is at Bremerton Motorsports Park this Sunday
http://nwr-scca.org/solo/nextevent.htm
I'll be the afternoon novice instructor, but so far I'm carless - driving the equipment bus so I can't take my car and my buddy's miata that I was going to drive has a fried ECU.
-
There's plenty of just-for-funners in the SCCA, but also WWSCC has events in Shelton at the Airport.
-
awesome, let us know how it turns out. Are you planning to use the STI engine and transmission, too?
-
Planning on being at this event...getting hooked on autox...so much cheaper than track time :-)
I'm scared of going to the track... I know I will be instantly addicted and wear all the wear items so much faster. Autox is so short and slow, my factory installed brake pads still lasted 40K miles.
