  1. Looking for aftermarket catbacks. Let me know what you have if you’re willing to ship. I’m currently running the SPT V2 (brand new, dealer installed a year ago). I’m looking for more sound.

    Show me what you’ve got!

  2. As always, thanks much for all the kind words. You're the best, hands down.

Look in the 2005-2009 FS thread-a couple of brand new items for sale. I think you'll like them.

Got a website that’ll be up soon? Highly interested in your work! I’m slowly organizing my “light build” and will need to get everything gathered up as time goes on. I figured best to start with looking at my options for turbo replacements/ upgrades and go from there. 09 LGT.

    Hope all is well, John!

  3. Stromung did not deliver. Not even close. 3 undelivered CBE's from the GB STILL TO THIS DAY.

I had to get Stromungs old (he quit) foreman to assist in recovering the old fixtures from a storage unit. Scott told him to throw them away (and thought he did).

All misfits were also wagons. The single sedan misfit is because he was sent a wagon midpipe and sedan cans. Another Stromung fubar.

Did this ever get resolved? I’m in talks with him for another group buy, but figured I’d test the waters, first.

  4. I just read your other post. I didn't realize you had two obxt!

I'm likely just going to have to do a custom exhaust eventually because I don't really want to lose ground clearance and I don't have the money to have a jdm rear bumper. It's a crime we didn't get bumper cut outs.

Can you post a pic of your Stromung exhaust? I’m interested if you’re planning to go a don’t route.

    SPT Catback

    GFB Respons

    Billstein SpecB Suspension

Well that's all for now! Only owned the car for a couple months. So much I wanna do and glad to be apart of the subaru family. Loving this car

Do you have any pics of the exhaust on your car and what hangers were used? I just had the SPT V2 installed along with regular Kartboy hangers and the right side is off. Also, the hanger holes seem to be of a larger diameter than the muffler hangers. I'm wondering if I should go back to the stock ones... :spin:

  6. Hey guys/gals,

Anyone with an SPT v2 and Kartboy XL exhaust hangers that could post pics for visual reference? I have an 08 and the exhaust tips sit very close to the bumper. Wondering how much the extended hangers drop the exhaust...thanks.

Did you ever find a solution? I just recently got the SPT exhaust with regular Kartboy hangers and they don’t seem to make a difference. The muffler hangers seem like a smaller diameter than the KB hanger holes. Right side has slop and isn’t spaced the same as the left.

  7. If the noise goes away when your foot is not on the clutch pedal, and makes noise when you push the clutch pedal to the floor. It's the throw out bearing. A common issue for us. What's the mileage on the vehicle?

If there is a noise when the clutch is not being touched and it goes away when you push down the clutch. It's likely the input shaft bearing and you'll need to rebuild the transmission for that one.

Mine had the noise- a chirping sound, similar to belt squeak. It went away when I pushed the clutch in. When my foot was not on the pedal, the noise was there.

My Subaru mechanic used this kit for the repair:

But it sounds like OP’s issue is different than mine.

  8. Not sure if this is the same thing, but I had mine serviced a couple months ago due to the "chirping" noise that only went away when I pressed (disengaged) the clutch. Had my mechanic do the service and he used this kit: https://www.importimageracing.com/products/pdm-tsk3-snout-throwout-bearing-and-sleeve-repair-kit-subaru-wrx-legacy-gt-forester-xt?gclid=CjwKCAiA3abwBRBqEiwAKwICA2n7-srlYmli6eAdttTcOGpOftDAZ-jX9Xjio4J9Rm8wfSzGg2AaLxoCdb0QAvD_BwE
  9. IMO the most bang for the buck is a Cobb AP and Invidia catted down pipe. With a Grimmspeed 2X thick 3" gasket the DP will bolt to the stock midpipe. with a Stage 2 tune from the AP or a great Tuner like tuningalliance@gmail.com, tell Mike Kinsman I sent you.

In fact contact him about buying the package deal, Downpipe and Cobb AP plus the gasket.

The exhaust can come later without a need for a retune.

Cobb stage 1 is nice but the Dp really wakes the car up. You won't be disappointed.

What about the Invidia Q300 plus catted DP, Cobb AP?

  10. I'm considering picking up the SPT exhaust for my '09 Legacy as well as the Cobb AP, since that seems to be the safe bet. Also, is there a noticeable difference between the stock and say, an aftermarket catted DP? Looking for recommendations to get a little hp bump but stay reliable and have a pretty boxer rumble 😆

I've also thought about the Invidia CBE because it looks good with the twin tips, but its almost $200 more than I can get the SPT exhaust for. Also, YouTube shows the SPT with a better sound than the Invidia, but it's hard to tell 100% through a video and not in person...

Hopefully I posted this in the correct spot...

    Thanks!

  11. I have recently extracted production numbers from the OEM Subaru parts utility. Here's the numbers according to that source.

    2008 Newport Blue Pearl 2.5GT Limited - 293 Produced

    Manual - 98

    Auto - 195

    2009 Newport Blue Pearl 2.5GT Limited - 173 Produced

    Manual - 31

    Auto - 142

All of them had tan leather interior.

I’m late to this thread. Curious about the numbers for the other colors of LGTs 08-09.... thanks!

P.S. just picked up an 09
