I had the same setup with a 3" midpipe and it droned like crazy. I put the stock resonator on the 3" and it didnt drone but it was silent outside the car. I did 2.5" with no resonator and it was a hair too loud for me. My buddy had this brand new resonator that he just cut off a Mercedes (I am an audi guy myself) that he threw on for me. It sounds PERFECT. You can hear it inside but no loud droning. Sounds great outside. The video sounds a little raspy but hey... its just the mic inside my almost dead Macbook Pro.

i remember when i ran straight pipes. I had cut the resonator out of the stock mid and i ran no mufflers for a few days. My god...it was unreal.

Talk to Steve (05legacygt i think)... He has the same setup you have. Stock mid/y with magnaflow 14" mufflers. When he cut out the resonator it sounded PERFECT!!! It isnt too loud and no drone but when he guns it, sounds awesome. I am starting to become a fan of smaller piping for sound reasons. I think I am going to replace my 3" mid (with resonator) for a 2.5" with no resonator. Should be louder and less drone.

Look at CBE's. The HKS and Borla use smaller pipe and drone less than the 3" varieties... Magnaflow, XO2, Perrin, Cobb. I may loose a few horses but brutal sound is brutal sound!

what does the pill do exactly? How does it effect performance/boost?

I actually would go through their supplier (CST - Custom Soft Trims). The dealer itself wanted 1800 (600 profit for them, bastards). But CST will do a full (seats + door panels) setup with two tone. (I wanted the centers of the seats to be silver like the dash, and black around the rest, with silver stitching everywhere).

CST will do the entire interior for $1200?

I am so happy. It sounds great. I have gotten 4 or 5 complements on the sound of my car.

My friend has a stage 2 IS300 and is jealous of how good i sound.

I went "Stage 2" today and it sounds great.

Huge rumble but not ricer or honda...more sophisticated. Everything I want out of an exhaust, and it cost me $1.68 at OSH!!!
