  1. Looked around and cannot find one. Mine is in bad shape. Looked on eBay and the online Subaru parts places.
  2. Suddenly not getting good FM reception. Is there an antenna amplifier? I see the black wire coming out of the radio and if I unplug the connector it goes from bad to none.
  3. Silverton, thank you. Found it about 10 mins after I posted. Left the filter and replaced the vacuum line and all is well.
  4. Chasing a P0171 and found a broken / dry rotted vacuum hose right away. Going to replace it but noticed it has what looks like a check valve. If it is a check valve it is bad - air flows easily both ways. Can anyone verify the yellow circle in the attached image is a check valve? And if it is what is the correct orientation for flow. I do not see arrow on it. Thanks in advance.
  5. Factory mid pipe has a hole and one of the mufflers sounds like it has a hole - can't see it. What is the current best economical replacement. I know these cars are getting old. Plan on keeping the car since it runs so good. Would like to get Stainless. Was looking at the X-Force catback. I read some complaints about chrome peeling. I thought it is 304 SS? Do not trust the ones on eBay. Invidia Q300 and Borla are too much money for what the car is used for. Looking to spend around $600.
  6. I did try that a few times. But was not confident I tabulated all the teeth. Overall the job was not the most difficult job I've done on cars it just requires extra care on one part - putting the belt back on. It was the job I was the most anxious on when cranking over the first time for sure!
  7. Friend of mine stopped over and double checked the marks. Put her back together and she fired right up. Thanks everyone!
  8. Changing out the timing belt and noticed that no matter what I do the passenger side marks will not fully line up. Passenger top lines up but the passenger bottom and passenger upper to bottom pulleys are 1/2 tooth off. Crank and drivers side are spot on. Do not have the tensioner on yet. Am I over reacting and this is normal? Got 120,000 on the odometer. Way past time to change it. Factory belt and tensioner looked surprisingly good.
  9. Replacing the timing belt and had the new belt almost on and the vice grip holding the two cams on the drivers side let loose and both cams spun. Am I ok with just realigning the marks? Or are there possibly multiple rotations for the alignment?
  10. What is everybody using for a front end today? Looking at Nova Launcher.
  11. Adding an amplifier to my stock radio using a Audio Control DQ-61. No matter what I try the second the ignition is turned on with the radio off the DQ-61 turns on. Tried a Scosche LOC I had laying around. Exact same thing. I've used this type of LOC before and never had an issue. Is there something special about the speaker output on the Legacy radios?
  12. Are these exact buttons available? Spent time looking for them and I cannot find a part number for them.
  13. Looking to put an audio signal processor in the glove box. Will need to cut up the insert to do it. Anybody have one?
  14. Must have had some nasty chemicals on my hands at some point because the OFF button on the HVAC controls is trashed. Can just the buttons be ordered? Are they easy to change?
  15. Definitely will. Had to help some friends with more pertinent car repairs over the weekend. Tonight I fixed the marbles in the dashboard (new blend actuator). The sound of silence!
  16. Cannot say for sure but car is at 3/4 tank now and I do not notice the smell. Did not know there was a transfer pump. Pulled up the inspection plate for the transfer pump and it looks dry - no sign of any leak. Starting to think it may be the cracked housing. Going to pull up the pump next. Using this down time to address various other issues including the marbles in the dashboard (mode actuator bad - ordered new one), replacing the shifter plate - plastic color worn off, and install a subwoofer amp for the corner fiberglass sub boxes I built.
  17. Pulled up the seat and took of the pump cover. Did not see anything wet or any residue from anything wet. Also inspected the engine compartment in the daylight. Do not see any leaks. Put the car on the lift and did not see anything out of the ordinary underneath. No exhaust leaks. Definitely sounds like the housing. Probably just need to take it apart and inspect it. Is it just vapors that are leaking from the housing or should I see some liquid?
  18. Noticed a faint smell of gas the last few times I went on short trips. Tonight we took the car for a longer drive than normal. Very pungent smell of gas in the cabin. No smell or sign of leak in engine compartment. Gas consumption seems normal - no crappier than usual . No leaks on the ground. Will pull up the rear passenger seat tomorrow morning and put car on lift to inspect underside. Smells like raw gas not exhaust. Any ideas?
  19. Passenger side mirror frame is cracked, painted part and glass are ok. Have heated mirror option. Can I just buy a regular non-heated mirror of any color and transfer the parts over? Cannot find a definitive answer.
  20. Ended up just cutting off the bad end by the throttle body and splicing in a new hose end with a brass nipple. Looks stock.
  21. This is for a 2007. Changed the valve cover and both of the hoses are shot. Would like to keep everything original. I think I found one of them 99071AC010?

  24. I have not driven the car since this happened. Going to remove the filter from under the air intake this weekend. Can I get the crush washers locally? They look bigger than brake banjo bolt crush washers. Anybody have the part #?
