  1. Some more blonde jokes...

What do you call a dead blonde in a closet?

1984 hide and seek world champion.

Why did the blonde stare at the orange juice container for two hours?

    The carton said concentrate.

Why did the blonde climb the chain link fence?

To see what was on the other side.

How many blondes does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

Blondes don't screw in lightbulbs...they screw in back seats of cars.

  2. Friday evening, DGM LGT on hwy 49 outside of Nevada City. I was at the Willow for a small car show.

Wow. Now that's a place I haven't been to in a long time. The Willow. The only place I know of where you can cook your own steak/burger on the BBQ pit if you want. One of the best hole in the wall joints around.

  3. So I've read the multiple posts of those attempting to quiet down the aftermarket exhuast drone with not much success by applying dampening materials to the rear seat/trunk area. Just wondering if anyone has every tried applying sound deadener actually under the car instead? Came across some heat deflecting/dampening material at the local performance auto parts store and started thinking to myself what if I installed this stuff underbody instead. Anyone ever used this stuff before?

  4. Just want to give huge props to the LGT community on here for being such a stand up group of people and for having each others back when it comes to scammers. Such a nice thing to see when my other hobby (rc cars) seems to be full of what seems like a disproportionate amount of scammers at times. If you ever want to be entertained by some stories of scammery, visit the RC Tech Marketplace Feedback forum.

  5. Wow...vinyl wrap an entire car. Never crossed my mind, nor had I every heard of it, but now you've got the wheels in my head spinning. I guess my #1 questions would be how well does it hold up? Does it bubble, shrink, wrinkle under hot/cold conditions? My LGT has some scratches and dings which I would very much like to have repaired. I even have a family owned body shop to get a discount on the body work portion but even then it still costs an arm and leg for paint and to get it resprayed. Flat black vinyl would match my black wheels nicely.
  6. Depends on your level of technical ability, access to tools, etc.

I did my DP (had a 2nd OEM DP already gutted), and after getting that far, decided to skip doing the UP - it took me like 6-7 hours to do the DP. Yes, this was my first time working on a Subaru, all the steps were new, etc. And, I'm not super mechanically inclined. But, it would have taken me another 2-3 hours just to get the UP loose, IF I had managed it - I needed the car on Monday to go to work :-) Plus, having never worked on a turbo engine before, all the exhaust routing was new to me, etc. Didn't want to mess up a gasket by hurrying, and then having leaks all over the place.

All that to give you some context: I did my plugs in 3-4 hours (first time doing plugs), and most of that was struggling to get the caps back on the plugs after they were installed - that's a bit of a tight fit. DO buy at least a wobble or U-joint ratchet extension. Don't think you'll manage without one. I ended up doing the following: loosening with ratchet + regular extension + socket. Unfortunately, the fit it so tight, the ratchet wouldn't fit for more than 1/4" of threading. So then, I used the wobble extension + fingers or vice grip pliers to get the plug out the rest of the way and the new one in part of the way until the ratchet + regular extension fit to tighten up.

If you've done UP/DP, I would say it's only half as much work, or less.

I'm good to go then. I will say it took me two days (4-5 hours each day) to install my UP, and remove and gut my stock DP and get it all back together. Of that, the DP only took me 1-2 of those hours, the remaining time was spent installing the UP. With that said, I've got access to all the right tools, spark plugs should be no problem for me from what I'm hearing.

  7. Multiple this weekend. Took a trip to Tahoe. White LGT sedan travelling EB 50 in south shore area with what looked to be either a severely bent right front wheel or the lugs and the wheel itself were about to fall off.

Can't remember color (it was late, I was drunk), LGT wagon, parking lot of 3 Peaks Resort in south shore

Charcoal LGT wagon EB 50 near Camp Sacramento/Strawberry; and

My twin ABP LGT sedan w/ski rack on EB50 while I was pulled off to the side of the highway so my wifey could blow chunks (we had alot to drink the night before)

  8. I think my wifes problem is that she drives hundreds of miles a day sometimes for a living (sales rep for a pharm company). She likes her cars to be quiet and comfortable for the long haul. Of course though, being my car, I can do anything I want to it. Just when it comes around to a road trip and I want to take the Subie, she is going to want to take her car because it is quieter. I think I may step down to Stage 1 just to see what it sounds like compared to 2. But again, I sure would also prefer to have the extra ponies to back up the sound, otherwise I feel like I'm faking. It's like taking saggy boobs and dressing them up in a wonder bra. The bra comes off, and you wonder what happened.
  9. So being a new owner, I went to Stage 2 Hogzaust this weekend. And I can say initially I was undecided, I mean I liked the sound, nice and throaty, but then my wife saw and heard the mod, and her comment was, "how old are you?" I then I realized why I was undecided and why I will probably go back to stock. I mean, I am 33 years old, and here I am modding something strictly for sound, no performance gain whatsoever. So for me, call me old, but I really want the performance, not the sound that goes along with it. I'll go buy a geniune turbo-back if I want one. This mod is simply all show, no go for me. Sorry.
