  1. ROBMAN - did u happen to mention that you had a check engine light on????? b/c thats a HUGE DIFFERENCE.

let me know - communicating w/ maine mall motors

    Joe -

See my original post #274 in this thread. I did throw a CEL two days before my 15K service.....In fact, I scheduled the service early just because of the CEL event. The CEL cleared the next morning. Remember though, I had the cooling fan problem as well, and Maine Mall Motors thought the CEL was more related to that rather than the studdering.

    Rob.

  2. ROBMAN - Can you please give us the Part Number from your "exchanged" ECU. Would like to compare it with the one in mine. My car feels so much different from what others are reporting after reflash, that I'm wondering if SOA isn't sending out new/newer ECU's.

    TIA

    Subie -

    Part Description: UEC-42

    Part Number: 22611AJ17C

My tech claimed this to be the latest/greatest from SOA.....

Studdering 99% fixed. Maybe one or two single jolts in the past 5 days of driving, which probably are drive by wire or driveline lash related.

    Rob.

  3. ROBMAN, what dealership did you go to? I am in NH and am planning on bringing my LGT/ltd 5SPD to AMD Subaru in N. Hampton, NH where i purchased it. I have an appoitment on Thursday to get this ECU thing checked out but would like to reference your dealership if they happen to not cooperate.....which I do not anticipate to be the issue.

Thanks for your help - glad to hear things worked out well for you, hope to get the same turnaround.

    Joe -

Purchased at and serviced by Maine Mall Motors in South Portland, Maine. They are a Berlin City owned operation, which you may be familiar with in NH. Good luck!

    Rob.

  4. Sorry if I'm missing something here.....but seems many of you who have had "the fix" had their ECU's shipped out by your dealer for a reflash?

My dealer actually replaced my ECU with a brand new one from SOA. Different part number as well. They had the new ECU drop shipped, and only kept my car overnight.

What seems to be the dealer preferred method, reflash or replace????

By the way, my GT LMT 5spd......night and day with the new ECU. Freak'n fan problem gone.....zero studdering.

  5. Count me in as a casualty….

My 05 GT/LMT is at the dealer today for its 15K service. My problems:

    1. The nefarious f’n cooling fan on all the time.

    2. Shuddering on acceleration, all gears.

    3. Threw a CEL on my way to Boston Tuesday. Cleared itself the next morning??

    4. Drivers door wiring harness rattle.

Do I get a door prize for presenting to the dealer with the most combined problems?

So the dealer (Maine Mall Motors, South Portland, ME) steps up with no BS. Calls SOA, and admits that there is a problem with the ECU, and my fan control switch, which should take care of all my problems when replaced………or will it?…..hmmmmmm.

So the absurd part of my conversation with the service manager comes when he asks me what grade of fuel I’m pumping into the car. Only the best, “93 Octane” says I. “Well” says the service manager, “my tech sniffed a sample of the fuel in your tank while performing your injector flush, and he thinks you got a bad tank of gas, which could also promote the acceleration surging you are reporting, you might want to change stations where you purchase fuel”.

Huh…..WTF……I didn’t know Subaru techs were trained in the fine art of olfactory vapor diagnosis. I’m envisioning one very high & brain damaged tech they keep in the corner just for this purpose!

    Thought I’d share a funny!
