  1. Thanks for the advice... here is kinda my issue/complaint/armchair diagnoses... so as far as A/F learning, correction, FBK FLKC etc.. I have watched these , however I wish there was some sort of programming to put into a map etc to warn of this stuff.. realistically its a bit of a PITA to always have the accessport out (then put it away as not to tempt thieves) and also be watching that all the time.. I just want to get in my car and drive (insert you should have bought a higher HP stock sports car(insert car of the month) here), I think I saw a thread on NASIOC a while ago about people complaining about the cars knock sensors/system etc and how it doesn't lend it self to high performance cars..?? I don't really remember. I have been in a subaru that had knock before and really bad knock is pretty hard to not notice... Since I am the only one who drives this car I can't say that I have ever had a moment where I noticed something not right w the motor prior to this... Here's my armchair diagnoses.. maybe .. I recently read on the injector dynamics website ( I think) an article about filtering fuel (especially e-85) and how the oem system may not do an adequate job of filtering (I have seen lots of guys put an inline fuel filter in the engine bar w a servicable element/filter) and since cyl4 is so close to the turbo/up pipe etc the heat/heat cycling might shorten the service interval of that injector , especially if the fuel is not filtered adequately. I imagine a 1000cc injector running a few % points off of the others at WOT might just cascade into kablooey... totally guessing.. /frustrated.. but on a + the car still runs well at anything other than idle....? maybe the cure for ringland failure is all boost all the time..:( kidding..
  2. cyl 4.. 65psi...ringland failure on a built motor w cosworth pistons....:(:( .. pro tune, crawford AOS, brad penn oil every 3k, lower rev limit, WTF????... I might be done... pouring $ into a depreciation asset is never smart but I just put in a new clutch/flywheel ,new TMIC, new turbo, had the ECU replaced (actually thanks subaru, they paid for 1/2 of that) .... I should just buy a merc 4wd sprinter van and put a shifter kart in the back to get my jollies off...:( MOTHER PUCKER!.... so put in a new motor ($6k) drive it for a year or two until the RS comes out or part this sucker out and never look back..? I know you gotta pay to play but...man..this hurts.
  3. I'm no expert :) but uh why wouldn't they be for daily use ? I had mine in for 3 yrs....daily..and not more expensive either.. I'm neutral on either rack or quickener.. The rack will feel oem, where as the quickener ( at least mine was) made the steering heavier ( which I liked) also the quickener had about 3mm of play when the wheel was straight. Annoying for the first 5 min then u forgot it was there.
  4. every time it snows I start thinking about diffs.. and while not necessarily lgt specific I thought this might add to the conversation with lots of pictures: http://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?13240-A-spotters-guide-to-Subaru-differentials

I am still not clear on what people are doing to "improve " on a r160 diff.. can you re shim it or can I try to find a spec -b rear diff (since they are like unicorns anyway I doubt I would find one) or spend big $ and get a ppg one?

  5. This thread is terrible...... Just when I thought.."hmm no more messing w my car just general maintenance here on out" you guys bring this up.. now it's nagging on me... cause.. it totally makes sense to do... so When you guys get it all figured out come out to colorado and help me do it, because electrical stuff is wizardry and electrical stuff going into gas tanks scares me even more.
  6. thanks for posting this... anyone ever taken the gauge cluster off to tap into a tach signal? if so anyone wanna share.. or point me toward a thread that has it.. yes I did search and there are about 1000 threads that have tach/wiring etc in em :)

    thanks!!!

  7. don't forget to take off the wheel speed sensor... we forgot to take it off and broke one, car is in limp mode until you put a new one on... which took us 30 minutes to figure out why the abs and check engine light was on and car wouldn't rev more than 4k....other than that it was easy as cake... and I replaced all 4 wheel bearings (SKF) it only took 2 hrs total and apparently all the others were bad too as my car is QUIET.... no really quiet now... I had no idea how much noise the others were making...
  8. is it possible that this made my stereo sound better? awesome! very happy with the whole deal... only advice.. don't put the switch where I did..(on front vertical panel in drink cubby as you will need to solder wires for it to fit...) not a big deal but I got all excited about putting the switch there without trying it all plugged in.. the wires from the plug run into the housing for the seat heater.. my bad but it all worked out... even gets calls on iphone 4s people seem to be able to hear me just fine and I can hear them through speakers.. thanks!!!!!
  9. go here and buy these... http://www.subtle-solutions.com/index.php?cPath=21_98_116

    or these--http://www.paranoidfabrications.com/shop/subaru-legacy-02-07-hdpe/

try every option until its perfect then let me know so I can do the same thing:) I would just get wagon springs for a legacy (not necessarily spec-b) then add the butt spacers

website shows that eibach doesn't seem to offer springs for lgt anymore, but I found this. http://www.pricematchedparts.com/index.php?p=product&id=2823&parent=108&is_print_version=true

there are tons of springs for lgt,, and im sure there is someone out there who can use a tape measure and knows math.. and they can figure out what spring size/rate would be good for our obxt's...then look at eibach or one of the other companies as they have off the shelf springs in a million different heights and rates.. good luck.

  10. random question...I won't have large chunks of time this week to do the whole install.. any reason why it would be bad to drive around with the radio un installed from the car? fuse, short, cel, alarm? as I think I can take it all out today , go to work tomorrow then tomorrow night do some more then solder and finish thursday or fri.

    thanks,
