Hey hutru01, the HIGHER or LOWER question reminds me of the Monty Python skit:
I came here for an argument. No you didn't. Yes I did. This isn't an argument it’s a contradiction. No it isn't. Yes it tis . . .
-
Yes, but is it 1 inch HIGHER or LOWER? You just say "within one inch of stock" and don't give dimensions for stock.
It is pretty obvious from the initial "before and after" pictures that its lower with the JDM bilsteins/springs.
-
This shit only happens to me when the temps are cooler and I am accelerating sharply. It is annoying nonetheless.
-
RMS @ voltage is entirely dependent on the manufacturer of the amp. You have to look at each one individually and can't make a general assumption that it's rated at 14.4v because it gives a better number. Usually cheaper amps are rated at 14.4v but alot of the higher end ones are rated at 12.5v
Hence my comment about Elemental Design amps being rated at 12.5v.
-
^ I think because people are always asking about it.
-
I'm familiar with Elemental Designs. They're a small outfit, and they would be the exception, not the rule. CEA2006 attempts to address this, but I still see many amps rated at 14.4V.
-
In fact, most amps are rated at 14.4V to give them the highest number.
Agreed. "Most" amps
-
hutru01, the input voltage has little to do with meaning the amp is underrated. In fact, most amps are rated at 14.4V to give them the highest number.
Well I can tell you that I just bought a Elemental Design nine2x amplifier and its rated at 200Wx2 RMS at 4 ohms (input voltage 12.5v).

That would make that amp underrated and its worth noting with certain amps that are rated lower like this one.
-
In regards to underpowering, its better to have an overpowered amp rather than underpowered because you can always turn down the amp. Underpowering a subwoofer is just as bad as overpowering with the gain set too high. This causes clipping and can kill your speaker.
-
As long as you tune it right (assuming the amp is within the range of the subwoofers RMS at a specific ohm level) you shouldn't have any issues with blowing a subwoofer.
RMS(continuous) power is the most important thing to pay attention to. Amp's RMS ratings are rated at (12.5v, 13.8v, 14.4v etc.) so therefore a lot of amps are underrated.

I am at a loss but dextr214 you might be onto something.
Cold temperatures would cause less flexibility. That is one thing we obviously know. As long as the temps are above 40, mine doesn't make this rubbing/growling sound near as bad.
-
My wagon does this as well and I am just Stage 1 now. It was much worse with Stage 3 though and I did have 18 inch rims and tires at the time. Now I am just running stock rims/tires and it still makes the sound. I figured it was the tires rubbing from squat. Oh and I am on Bilstein HDs/Pinks.
-
Not that I would ever attempt this, but that was one hell of a walk through. Props to you for the patience. I am sure people will benefit from this.
-
^ Its all about the wagons with our heated cloth seats.

To each its own.
Everybody has their own taste, that I think we can agree on.

Obviously everybody is going to vote for the year they bought.
That is not necessarily true. I owned an 06 LGT sedan and I now own an 05 LGT wgn. I would choose the 05 over any year LGT because:
A.) Leather sucks (its hot during the summer, cold during the winter). Non-limited cloth FTW (and its still heated if I need it)
B.) SI Drive is useless IMHO (and we have sport mode in the automatics for those of you who want to argue that it is)
C.) Blacked out headlights...enough said
I am in no way saying that 07+ aren't nice, because they are, but if I had decide between these choice's, I would go with 2005 everytime.

To make up for my erroneous post.....

OP: I can't say I envy you because my dash is relatively quiet and even if I did have a slight rattle, that isn't something that a little a/c action or louder music doesn't fix.
Although, some people are annoyed by the little things.
9 hours worth? wow....that must have been a biatch

Fair enough.
In most cases, anything JDM is going to be better than USDM both aesthetically and performance wise.
