Update - A week later and no signs of blowing out the gaskets. The steel ring is keeping them solid. This mod sounds very similar to clips I've heard of the Borla exhaust. Keep in mind, I tried the washer route twice and pulled it twice because of the increase in noise level after a day or two. No exhaust stink and no carbon build up on the body pan. It may be a little quiet for some at idle, but I think it has just the right added rasp to tell you there is something going on down there. Under wot, it sounds like a porsche. Oh, and the wife hasn't said a word. Driving at low throttle, there is little difference in sound.

The Hog evolves... Didn't see where anyone actually performed the mod this way, but I love the sound now. Rather than removing the gasket all together, I may a surgical incision (more like cut it with a pair of Wiss snips) in the factory gaskets as shouwn below. Cut a straight line at the widest part of the inside of the gasket. This method will help to keep the exhaust flowing directly to the rear and eliminate any possibility of blowing out more of the gasket. The sound is better than the original washer mod (IMO). It sounds more like a performance exhaust thatn a hole in the muffler.

I'm running on Tein H-Techs now, but the drop was more than 1"...more like 2" all around. In any case, these are Roh Adrenalines 18" x 7" with 48 offset and 225/40 ZR18 Toyo Proxes. No rubbing -

saw a silver LGT with spec B wheels on 440, just short of the VNB this morning at around 7:00. Unless of course the spec B's have GT badges.... Big Edit...saw a silver spec B...

I'm very with ya on the ears thing. I meant more like my 5EAT has nothing before turbo...when you rev it, there is this "running too rich" sound like it is clearing out from running too rich once it gets to higher rpm. It really feels better now, but it may be the cooler weather that has affected it
-
OK, Hogs...I've done the Hogzaust, then reversed it. IMO, it doesn't work as well with the 5EAT because there is no reving to get that sweet sound while standing still (unless you pop it in to neutral). The other problem I had with it was that on initial take off, there wasn't the cool rumbling sound, but more like the car is running on 3 cylinders. Ya gotta give me something different for te autos...they really don't sound good with Hogzaust under 1300 rpms. No true designer will leave a project half done...
