  1. Thanks. Some of the other fuel pipes under the manifold look a little rough too. Good thinking. Do I really need to drain coolant to pull the manifold? Do I need to follow each step in the FSM of removing the intake to remove get to the fuel rail? Seems coolant needs to drain because of the lines that go to the throttle body. But any way to keep most things intact just to get to the fuel rail?
  2. I haven’t found anything from searching. The LH fuel injector pipe is starting to rot and leak fuel. Can this be replaced without removing the intake manifold? Item 13 in the image. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. About to undertake this on my 2005 LGT wagon. Misfire and low compression on cylinder 2. Been reading through the first few pages and it helps assuage some of my nervousness. Valuable info so far. Lots more to go, but I can't keep reading for too long. Sooner or later I have to bite the bullet and start pulling the engine. It's good guys from the community were so helpful towards ya. Been talking with Max Capacity (pretty local) on PM and he's been helpful. But man, I can't stop thinking I'm going down a rabbit hole or I'm going to screw something up. I guess just work slow and thorough. Another tough thing is being able to consistently work on the car with the rest of life's stuff going on. Can't let this slip to the cold weather months. Anyway, bookmarking what seems like another great resource on this forum. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. dumb question i think..but couldn't find an answer through searching. will disconnecting the battery completely reset the ecu and lose tune i have? the new hex file will still be there right? but ecu learning will need to happen again?
  5. So i was able to use learning view to get ecu data....was able to reflash my ecu using ecuflash....now trying to data log. romraider isn't working correctly. when i start the logger, there is nothing in the com port pull down menu on the upper left hand side. it comes up in learning view fine, but not in romraider...almost like it doesnt think a cable is plugged in. any solutions?
  6. Finally got the ECU flashed today. Did two things...not sure what made it work...but upgraded to Windows XP SP3 and used latest version of EcuFlash (1.42.2595). thought that wasn't supposed to work but it did. Also, in the lower right corner of EcuFlash, it still said USB <-> Serial. Apparently wasnt a problem not having the FT***** code down there. Anyway, forum has a been a big help in getting my BNR turbo installed and getting started with the tune. Hope I can pay it forward.
  7. having trouble connecting to the car. using: ecuflash-1.29a ecu defs listed on the first page Windows XP Pro SP2 through BootCamp on intel-based MacBook (Core2Duo) in the bottom right of EcuFlash, where most of you are getting FDxxx, i am getting USB <-> Serial. Does not say no vehicle interface. i try to read the ECU, choose 2005-2006 Subaru DBW*** then the log messages that roll by say "unable to open OpenPort device (Serial)" and "unable to connect to vehicle interface" any advice?
  8. right, now i gotchya. makes sense. wish i did that initially. oh well live and learn. actually, hope i never have to do it again...probably would mean another blown turbo!
  9. didn't take off the heat shields from the down pipe. just the two turbo heat shields. lower one attaches to uppipe, downpipe, and turbo upper heat shield. definitely needs to go in before downpipe and turbo because there's a tab on the lower heat shield on transmission side that sits atop a nutplate on the downpipe...won't go in with turbo and downpipe installed. so downpipe has to come back out to get it in there. stinks.
  10. got it on today. not sure why i was having so much difficulty before. just a matter of jiggling the shield enough to fit around the downpipe, coolant hoses, and in between the turbo and transmission. definitely would have been easier to install this thing right before the turbo goes in i think. may want to mention that in your writeup. anyway, thanks for the help.
  11. yep. switched to STI uppipe, but that doesn't come into play with the install of the lower heat shield IIRC.
  12. Can't remember how the lower turbo heat shield goes on. Anyone have a pic of it installed? Thanks.
  13. m sprank...how'd the air intake boot go on after you installed the FP line? at the OCV, the 90deg fitting is completely pushing into my air intake boot, and consequently it's no longer round. Any advice?
  14. So no bed-in when you replace both? What if you replace pads and have the rotors turned?
  15. Followed you (Black LGT Wagon - Stock) leaving Bradley Airport Sunday 4/6 around 3pm. I was in a Silver LGT Wagon with tints. You headed up 91N and I took 91S.
  16. I run mine at 38/36. Running at the Subie suggested stock pressures is just way to splashy...i suggest inflating to higher pressures and seeing how you feel about tracking....cuz i have no problems at all....definitely the best tire for the buck...although i hear they're being discontinued. might need to find another option soon...
  17. #1) Continental ContiExtremeContact 215/45/17 Ultra High Performance A/S $385 shipped (TireRack) 3,000 miles since mounted #2) CT #3) Commute, spirited #4) 80/20 (hwy/city) #5) Stockers #6) These tires are way better than stock, especially in the rain. No hydroplaning as of yet. No tramlining. A bit noisier due to aggressive tread design but nothing intolerable (don't even notice it anymore). Definitely recommend, especially for the price.
  18. Silver GT Wagon (possibly w/ tints) heading N on Wilbur Cross around exit 64 at 845ish this morning? You were driving along side a tan OB. I was in your twin heading South.
  19. BSM GT Sedan at parking lot between Macy's and Lord & Taylor at Trumbull Mall. You were going, I was leaving.
  20. RBP GT Wagon heading north on the Wilbur Cross around exit 62 at 2:15. I was heading south in a silver GT Wagon.
  21. Silver GT Wagon w/ K&N and Bucknell stickers on driver's side cargo area window. Heading to GWB tolls from NJTP on the "express" side. I was driving the same.
  22. Are there vacation pix from 2005 featuring NA?
