  1. I will do that. I'm not sure about the factory sub as I don't have that in my car. I'm not home, but apparently the package has arrived this morning. If you do end up going with crutchfield, and you are a first time customer with them, let me know...as they have offered $20 credits for myself and any new customers that I refer to them.

Also, if this all goes well, I will have an in working order jazzy board for sale for anyone who's interested.

  2. Well, I'd say I did pretty good over at Crutchfield.com.

    Got:

    Pioneer DEH-P6800MP CD/MP3/WMA Player

Subaru Legacy & Outback Kit 2005-up (Metra's 99-8901 dash kit) free

    Subaru Wire Harness receiver free

Subaru Antenna Adapter Motorola Male to OEM Female free

    free shipping

    All for 219.99!

  3. I am fed up with electronics store salesmen not knowing what they're talking about when it come to the 05 Legacy's setup. They act confident but only seem to want to experiment with my car since it's different.

So, here's what I think I'll need to install aftermarket stereo:

    Dash kit

    Installer.com Display single item page

    Wiring harness

    Installer.com Display single item page

    Antenna adapter

Here's where I'm a bit confused. Will I need just the one, like this:

or will I need that one and this one:

I want to be able to plug my mp3 player into an aux input so any tips on getting that done would be appreciated. I tried jazzy's aux-in mod but seem to have messed up the factory cd player somehow, and I'd like to be able to listen to cds again.

  4. The one issue I had was with the RCA-to-Minijack adapter, it wouldn't plug in completely to the extension cable, and then wouldn't unplug. I got it resolved with audio stuff I had laying around the house, and voila!

What'd you do to resolve it? I've got the same problem where the adapter will not plug into the extension cable completely.

I tried listening to a cd last night for the first time since the aux-in install and I only get the left channel. Aux-in still works fine though. Does this sound like the cable from the cd player to the board is not connected completely?

  5. Thanks everybody for the help/place to vent. I am happy to say that install is a success. Turns out I had the ribbon cable from the cd player into the board reversed. Also, when I retried to cd player without the board, one of the screws on the front was too tight/long  and it was preventing one of the gears that loads the cd from turning. Since that screw was digging into that gear though, now I've got a swell grinding noise for load/eject. Sounds good, jazzy. Thanks.
  6. Thanks guys, I'll double check screw length. So are you saying that the two screws at the front of the player should be shorter than those at the back that mount the player to the removable bracket?

Other ?s that came up: Is the white wiring harness all that I need to be attaching for testing? What exactly is in the smaller black one with multiple wires for?

  7. Well, hopefully we won't add another dead cd player to the 1cd crowd. Got the kit in the mail today and am having problems. I am testing it and the cd player now will not load the blank or any cd. It won't try at all. Not even any ugly mechanical noises as the other guy had. The radio and the display both work but that's it. I've tried reassembling the radio as original and still no worky. This way, when I try to insert a cd, I get CD IN on the display, but it still doesn't try to take it in. Ribbon cables are fully inserted and cd was removed prior to removal from car. Any ideas?
  8. I have had my LGT for 2 years and have put this mod off way too long. I used the fm modulator and thought it was good enough for my XM, until I heard a car with factory XM and it sounded better than mine, even though I had modified the stereo otherwise which includes the factory subwoofer; with a 300w Pioneer Amp, Kenwood separates up front and Pioneer 2 ways in the rear. I even paid Best Buy for the install, just $75. OMG, the XM radio sounds as good as my CDs. I can crank the volume all the way and it is crystal clear. I put in the full $85 kit with the GLI. I am thrilled. If any of you are putting this off, DON'T. You won't regret it. (Even though my girlfriend says she can't hear the difference, I sure can ;-)

Which BestBuy did the install for you, MLC? Did they have any problems with it? The install department at the south Wadsworth BB are complete a**hats.

  9. Fritz says "word!" 9 months later and I couldn't be happier! If I could only remember to use the RPT button...

    $35 hack + 1 hour install = Happy Chris

Ok, I also bought an iPod power/audio wiring harness, a GLI and a mobile phone mount, so a little more than $35, but still...

brhays, let me know if you need links to the power/audio and/or mobile phone mount.

No, the GLI does not need it's own power. It is just a transformer.

    CJ.

New guy here, frustrated with trying to find a good quality way to play my mp3 player in my Legacy. I've got an 05 2.5i sedan. So, anybody here have Jazzy pnp mod experience with the 1cd/manual hvac controls model? If so, what changes are there from the 6cd install?

Chris...Lozerville...is that Louisville, CO? You or anybody else in the Denver area up to helping me out with this as I am pretty sad at this kind of stuff?
