please pm me if you have black cloth manuals ONLY! 2005 sedan, gt or non gt

  3. Looking good. Personally I would have gone with forged pistons. My stock 2011 sti had the ringland failure on it at 25k miles and it is 100% stock.

My friend bought a '12 sti and after 2k miles engine went on it. Not sure what went wrong but soa just replaced w a longblock.

So anywho i have mc's old sb and im not 100% sure which route to go but im leaning towards cp pistons w stock rods maybe .20 over. Have to read up on builds and plan this build.

  4. No, I talked with Mark Eastwood last year. For the cost of labor to take apart and rebuild one of these compared to a in-line 4 or V8 and the fact that everything is brand new. He can't beat the cost of $1800 for the OEM shortblock.

If I wanted Wiseco pistons and better rods, then he could do that, but for my HP goals, that didn't make sense.

I hope that explains it with out going into great detail.

We feel the rings are worn, Mark has seen that in other EJ's, that is why is used oil. When one of the members here picks up the old short block in and opens it up, then we'll know for sure.

    that would be me

im going full build route, its not cheap by any means but what is?

i may tear the block down to get it ready and see how the ring or ringlands look just for curiosity sake.

im suspecting rings were just worn w high miles.

  5. For those w missing caps, i just bought some 56mm blank caps and bbs stickers. $20 on ebay, ill report back if it looks nice at all. (dont really feel like shelling out $100 for the oem bbs caps at the moment)
