  1. **** Car is SOLD ****

    2006 Subaru Legacy GT Spec.B (349 of 500)

    Color: Titanium silver metallic

    Miles: 160k miles

    Transmission: 5MT

    Title: Clean, in hand.

    Lien: None

    Location: Vienna, VA

    VIN: 4S3BL676066207118

    Seller's email address: jonathansturges@yahoo.com

    Asking Price: $7,000 obo

Clean, reliable and fun daily driver. One owner; purchased new in Feb. 2006 from Fitzgerald Subaru. Stock. Not raced.

Almost exclusively dealer-serviced at Stohlman Subaru; full service records available. Only synthetic oil (Mobil 1). Garage-kept for the first 6 years. Very clean interior and exterior. Regularly detailed; paint was corrected and Opti-Coat 2.0 applied in December 2017. New all-season tires (BFGoodrich G-Force Comp-2 A/S) installed in August 2018. Upgraded to a 2008 radio with Aux-in.

    Major services performed:

Takata airbag recall (Dec 2016, 147k mi)

Bilstein struts and Swift springs (from Mach V, Oct 2015, 137k mi)

Timing belts, head gaskets and water pump (Apr 2012, 107k mi)

Clutch and TOB (Oct 2011, 99k mi)

Exterior is in very good shape with no rust and good shine in the clear. Bumpers have minor scuffs and dings typical of the age. I kept up with rock chips over the years, but my touch-ups aren't perfect! Very little rash on wheels.

Interior is in very good shape as well with minimal wear of the seats. No major blemishes or defects; one minor ding in the dash. And ‘06 was the only year for the red brick colored leather.

Virginia safety inspection expires 4/2020, emissions expires 11/2020.

What I appreciate about this car is that, despite its age, everything works; you can hand someone the keys and go. The only old-car glitch is that occasionally the RR lock sticks and you have to toggle it an extra time.

Title is clean and in my possession. No liens.

Thanks for looking and feel free to contact me with any questions.

  2. Indeed it does, but is that just XM or does the Sirius work with it too?

And is there no way to get a standard "universal car tuner" (the SC-C1) to work with the head unit? Some sort of adapter cable? Or does one need to spend the absurd $320 on the OEM Subaru tuner?

I believe you can get Subaru modules for Sirius or XM that work. Both have the 20-pin connector your radio has for the satellite unit. Do some more research on these, but the part numbers were:

XM receiver: H621SXA000 (now replaced by H621SXA001)

Sirius receiver: H621SXA100 (now replaced by H621SXA101)

(I provided the old P/Ns because searching those might bring up more information.)

Some people claimed the Sirius module won't work with the '07 radios. I think it should work, but I can't personally verify, so please research it thoroughly. Good luck...

  3. I've been reading through the thread and I can't quite figure out......how exactly do you get the radio out to begin with? Is there a step by step or directions of some sort?

Honestly, when I upgraded my MY06 HU to MY07/08, I used Jazzy's instructions for removing the radio; his complete manual is here: http://www.jazzyengineering.com/Installation_Manual_1-2.pdf. It's really easy. Make sure you do have a plastic pry tool, so you don't scratch things up. I have a tool called the "Fishbone" (not sure if they're still around) that works well. Good luck.

  4. So did mine. Twice. Both the originals burned out and both of my first set of ultra silver stars within a day of each other.

I'm really glad to find out I'm not going insane. I couldn't believe the bulbs would burn out in tandem, but mine did too! After 66k miles, the original H7's finally gave out. Weird that they go exactly at the same time, but at least they're easy to replace.

What's even weirder though is the car got its annual Virginia "safety inspection" on Friday, and then the low beams & DRLs were out the next time the vehicle was driven on Saturday. The lights must've worked on Friday, or it would've failed the inspection! The timing is just bizarre.

  5. For those joining this thread late and/or the search-impaired, here's a quick re-cap of the two main ways to enable AUX-IN when upgrading your HU to an '07+ model:

    Option 1: To go near-OEM, follow gregnauman's process in post #417: http://legacygt.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2486366&postcount=417

Option 2: For more customized needs, get an i85 adapter from SVXdc, as shown in this post: http://legacygt.com/forums/showpost.php?p=2551239&postcount=530

The adapter is the 3rd option in the i85 section, and basically allows you to custom re-wire the i85 pins as needed. This would make it possible to add custom AUX-IN jack wiring, including adding an AUX switcher, GLI or other components in the audio line. This is also more difficult, as you have to know how to wire your i85 properly, and some soldering is required.

I have a situation where I'm going to share the AUX-IN between two components, and I need a switcher, so I'm going to get one of SVXdc's adapters.

    Hope this helps...

  6. Well, I did some research today. I took apart the radio to gain access to the CD changer lines, soldered leads onto it and powered it up with a 12V power supply.

I hooked it up to the scope and identified the pinouts:

    1] Audio +

    2] Audio Ground

    3] Audio +

    4] Mute (3.5V Logic)

    5] ? (3.15V, signal?)

6] Digital Comm I/O (3.5V Logic), plenty of activity even with the CD off

7] 25Hz pulse (3.0V, 10ms/30ms) on odd tracks, high/unstable on even tracks and when off? wtf?

    8] 3.0V Constant

    9] 3.3V Constant

    10] 3.5V Constant

    11] 5.0V Constant

    12] Ground?

    13] Ground?

    14] 8.6V Constant?

Pins 5 & 7 have me baffled at the moment. 5 is unstable at 3.15V, and occasionally "spikes" down to zero somewhat randomly. I was sure 7 was a clock signal until the track changed...then I was confused again. From what I can find on Panasonic/Mitsushita, they use a serial communications protocol, which will help. I ordered a USB to Serial adapter for my laptop so I can program & debug my PLC...when dell replaced my lappy, they gave me one without a serial port. In the mean time, I'll keep poking around the internet for info.

Any EE's have any idea what 5 & 7 could be?

    Jazzy,

How about Electrical Engineering Technology, class of '94? :icon_bigg

Anyway, this sounds like the internal hookups that would normally correspond to the 16-pin external CD changer connector. See post #3 in http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=691652&page=1&pp=25

    ...for pin-outs of this connector.

This connector uses a 2-wire serial protocol, which is a bit tricky because both HU and external "changer" use the same data wire. It's an "open-collector" interface.

I think some Mazdas might use the same protocol, although some pins that are unused in Sube HUs may be used in certain Mazda HUs; see the aux. connector CN-200 at: http://www.miata.net/garage/m2interface.html

  7. "Sales" have been pretty slow the last 2-3 weeks. With the '07 models coming out with aux-ins built in and current interest waining, I'm not sure if the no-CD version is worth developing anymore. :( I'm not ruling it out yet, but I'm definitely reconsidering. If I do drop work on that, I'm probably going to focus on an HVAC controls replacement instead.

    Jazzy,

Do you have insider confirmation that the '07s have AUX-IN? I know they're adding satellite radio (both XM & Sirius), so it would make sense to add the AUX-IN since you have to change radios anyway.

When are the '07s coming anyhow? Are they coming out in the fall, as would be most typical, or is there something about the '07s that's triggering an early launch?
