I purchased a daily when my hg replacement went to hell. best choice ever. I flogged the crap out of that dd and sold it for scrap price.

I finally hired a shop to fix mine.

Pouring money into a car that needs constant maintenance doesn't make sense unless you have a good job, good mechanic skills and/or another car to get around with.

The much maligned MrTris had a thread on engine rebuilds that started with "obtain a dd that requires no maintenance and is cheap on gas for at least a year". A well-running dd makes lgt ownership possible .

Thank you! Thats the plan. Maybe ill find me an old Honda for my dd so my girl can have a break. 😊🥰

If your not doing that kind of work yourself, I’d suggest getting some basic tools, asking more questions, watching youtube videos etc….

Nothing you mentioned needs more than a good socket set and maybe some rust breaking penetrant. (Yeah, a floor jack and axle stands would be good, but there are also safe ways to do it without.)

Spend some money on quality parts and you’ll learn something.

Apologies if you’re already doing all your own work. If so, the cost of all those parts would be equal to a couple months of new/used car payments. And you sure won’t get anything that is a much fun to drive for something like that kind of money.

That looks like a well looked after car. Keep it that way and enjoy.

Thanks so much! Unfortunately I don't have the space to work on her myself and I'm still learning. I got separated from the navy and stuck at my parents until I get back on my own. Its tough but my one constant in my life is my beautiful leggy. I'll get her fixed up and running better than ever. But I may take my dad's advice and get a decent daily and keep her for the weekends for now.

  3. Today my leggy's battery wouldn't turn over and I'm pretty sure she needs a new alternator. She also needs a new passenger cv axle and some new shocks. My dad is trying his hardest to convince me to trade her in and buy something new because she's worn out and has high miles. But its not about having payments, it's about the love I have for this car. She's my baby and I'd do whatever it takes to keep her going. Even if she needs a new motor, I'd take out a loan for it. Does anyone else feel this way about their leggy? Should I really give her up? I really don't want to. I have so many more plans for her.

It's possible with enough money to do the swap but these cars are common enough that it makes more sense to just buy a manual car if that's what you want.

Yes, true enough, I just love my girl and I've put so much work and customization into her so far. I'll probably just keep her for show and if and when she needs a new trans (she's at 182,000 wondering how long it will last ) ill keep her Auto and get a blob eye or hawkeye wrx if I want a manual car. :) thanks for the advice.

  5. I'm just curious if anyone has had to replace their transmission in their 05 when exactly did it fail? and why? how many miles were on the car when it did fail? My girl is currently sitting at 182,000 ( I am her second owner) and her shifts are a little rough lately. I do want to do a trans flush and pan reseal to see if that helps but I also want to be prepared for if and when she needs a new trans. She is an AT but I would like her next trans to be a MT if it's possible to make that kind of swap.

  6. Just got her some new wheels and tires put on her, I decided to go with 235/45/17

instead of her 215/45/17 in hopes she'd look a little more beefy, I also rolled the fenders since I added wheel adapters to accommodate the poke fitment of the new WRX wheels. I'm pretty happy with the result. I also got her some fresh lower control arms, sway bars, tie rods and engine mounts installed. I want to update all of her suspension this year if possible. I discovered that her left side is about half an inch lower than the right side. I'd like to get some coil overs in the future.IMG_20230116_173737_547.thumb.jpg.2bc5faf2e6c8ec3fda744ca598cb4814.jpg

  7. Hell all, I'm new to the group, but I've had my Leggy going on 3yrs now, I'm doing lots of customizing this year on her.

Has anyone seen any good radiator hoses for the 2005 GT in different colors that actually fit recently?

I've seen quite a few online when I search, but they always end up being for a WRX or an Impreza.

I'm wanting to carry her blue and purple theme into her engine bay and would love to find some hoses in those colors.
