  1. CEL came on and gave this code. As well as my turbo making this sort of squeak when I let off the pedal to shift. Going to inspect next weekend. If anything major happened I'm gutting the car and selling or crushing the body. I no longer have anymore funds to put into it.
  2. I had this same issue when I took apart my intake system. Turned out to be an extremely damaged wiring harness that shorted my ECM. Had to replace both.
  3. Ok, no ebay. What about this one? https://www.partsgeek.com/gbproducts/DC/18220-05572020.html?utm_source=google&utm_medium=ff&utm_content=DN&utm_campaign=PartsGeek+Google+Base&utm_term=2005-2006+Subaru+Legacy+Turbocharger+Dorman+917-158+05-06+Subaru+Turbocharger&fp=pp&gbm=a&utm_source=google&utm_medium=ff&utm_campaign=PartsGeek+Google+Basecid=6774379819&aid=79287199093&keyword=412527534719%3A%3Apla-412527534719&kid=412527534719&gclid=CjwKCAjwxZqSBhAHEiwASr9n9B-KN1iRBsOK9EdlM51duwdM-b73W73gi_ks8Aqqza5m3vSg35mG4xoCq-wQAvD_BwE
  4. what do you think of this listing? https://www.ebay.com/p/725074116
  5. I'd like to upgrade from a vf40 to a vf46. Problem is I don't know where to get a turbo from. It seems they range from suspiciously cheap ($150) to my car isn't worth that ($1200). There appear to be an intimidatingly large amount of vendors and choices.
  6. Update: Had a locksmith come over to program the ecm to my keys and she fired up and ran really smooth! Now all that needs to be done is fix one of the tires, emissions, registration, and a tune.
  7. No, I simply plugged it in. I'd like to get it at least running before taking to my local tuning shop. How would I go about reprogramming the vin?
  8. Update: Replaced the wiring harness due to severe damage to a lot of the wires being broken. Didn't fix the ER HC code. Got luck and found a similar year legacy GT at a local junkyard that still had its ECM. Swapped the ECM and fixed the ER HC problem. New problem is that it cranks but won't start. Tested the fuel pump and it's getting fuel. Haven't tested spark yet.
  9. Update: Took the car to a dealership. Told them about the swap and the code. Only for them to tell me that because its not OEM they can't/won't go any further on diagnostics. Next thing I am going to do is pull the engine wiring harness off and do continuity testing to see if there is a broken wire. As well as test the sensors.
  10. Would no communication with the ob2 be a symptom of a bad ECM?
  11. Going to do continuity tests on the engine wiring harness tomorrow. I feel that it is something there because it worked before coming off then not when back on. If all is well with the harness I'll check the ecu next.
  12. All my grounds are good due to having to reinstall them when the engine went in. Cleaned and good contact made. The battery was bad after sitting for so long during the swap but just had it replaced with a new one today.
  13. Swapped in a JDM ej20, swapped ej25 intake and wiring onto the ej20. Did a test fire once all was plugged in, started fine although took a bit of cranking to go. Threw two codes, don't remember the exact codes but I do remember what they meant. One was bank 1 running lean and the other was faulty cam position sensor. In the process of removing the intake manifold to get to the cam sensors a lot of the old hoses disintegrated. After replacing the intake manifolds hoses, I installed it. The motor cranked twice then stopped and gave me the code ER HC in the odometer. First thing I did was search up the code. Found that the code could be many things electrical. So thinking to hook up an ob2 reader to check for more specific codes. The reader reported back that the car is not communicating with it. Checked all grounds, all good. Checked both the passenger side large connector and brown connector under inter cooler. Both are in good shape. All fuses are good as well. Assuming that the green plugs reported by others with similar issues are NOT plugged in due to the car starting before the intake manifold was removed. I don't know what issues the ob2 port not communicating implies. Currently stumped and don't know what to check next.
  14. An update on what is happening. Had my turbo guy inspect it and he told me that the center casting of the cartridge is toast . He said the exhaust side is all carved up and causes the oil sealing ring to bind. Where is a reputable place to pick up a vf52? I don't trust myself to pick out anything on ebay for fear of low quality.
  15. Was perusing ebay for vf40 rebuild kits and came across this toasted vf52. https://www.ebay.com/itm/303954325719?hash=item46c516f0d7%3Ag%3AiQgAAOSw8l1gcZ6j&LH_ItemCondition=7000 As well as this rebuild kit. https://www.ebay.com/itm/254595064799?_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=item3b470c63df:g:IwAAAOSwx0FeutDn&amdata=enc%3AAQAGAAACoPYe5NmHp%252B2JMhMi7yxGiTJkPrKr5t53CooMSQt2orsSg3Ye8yTWgOW7pmE1t838dgUOhYW0qrDnEB0961xoYCde2KpUhz5PvFPfX39UY6WL7ud8NBKY%252FEQ3n9%252FKdEv%252BjUq6r4td9HImSLQ8IBwFogVModSLY9s2M8gGSThhza7qElXYG1AuiLrhfCzyeyvDdC3NbygJPh6gfCY81vqr4YPBAFUzhW%252FZNBkEGS4yGmnxZMeo2ZcJUGiCsdgp%252BIXgNrwb3NGOJlFkZ607NNILVFJxrT6WLzdVOPN8RGGKHqxsBIzs%252BpZIxuYvwKs4xew%252Fl%252F27%252B1Z6iECjr7yc%252BPe%252Bg9yzFN%252Fn3O0wKpTo1EgIpIC%252BmuAsAahr5%252FhRW%252FRqhc7c5ZX55zW%252B2%252FDR8YjEUdu2pywVqSzXmCbMYoFUE%252BSig944Bgvo7P6hd8xnwWbIH%252FFSCrEqTHVMnA1psSRwSFoNu4XQHPIbo2xXaYHnlw3eloh1vseS7eDu%252B9K78BTzC8HX%252BzpOQeaqC6BVGHNMvqeZH7KSU23UqVQsAiQZqsDpQdtTtvuzgKQTxhblIDbZZLLxst4EQDeUJgSfo%252F9OgLW4JGskXcTWC8p%252FLo9XGUBgsmKMPcK9w0ddrFgoXxYpTvPoeYTF3UVvValcVz7cOLCQPhsd9I5kgcjCM3iBP2R7fDev%252B%252BTylXN5PSaMCU4iSLwzmSrH3rEmIvNkeT7fLHV%252BCyZ7bNQlciUsafx6o2wnLMfabypc9lsR4IN%252FofNllfX9JcBEl1Ij4f8CrrRSs%252F8aiaFbZOFH9YyCiMzAHBYCfOtmNzSSxnUtL7dD5mI5VWTsq04h5XdTbEX%252BOMLmYxqd%252BjhNyt16tF%252F%252F6Nv9t%252BCrGvlu6XKEgwaV6H2LgaTmNGy00Q%253D%253D%7Cclp%3A2334524%7Ctkp%3ABFBM2uzVqM9f but if thats not a wise route I found this rebuild kit for the vf40. https://www.ebay.com/itm/322979932160?_trkparms=amclksrc%3DITM%26aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20180105095853%26meid%3D4ea38634ecb940ebabb69bfe1d11675f%26pid%3D100903%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D20%26sd%3D322979932160%26itm%3D322979932160%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2510209%26brand%3DCAR&_trksid=p2510209.c100903.m5276
