I’m installing a (my97-98 Impreza)Transmission in my 97 legacy. Here’s the issue I’ve run into. The lower starter stud on my original trans was threaded into the bell housing, and the new transmission has a unthreaded hole. What can I do to solve this problem?
Edit: The hole is bigger in diameter than the threaded stud is already.

Once I pulled the transmission and swapped over my good sensors and the fork and throw out bearing I noticed that the lower starter bolt is threaded in the bell housing on the (old) original legacy transmission. The (new)one from a Impreza isn’t threaded. I was able to unscrew the stud out of the old transmission, but don’t know how I’m going to install it in the new transmission. Any ideas on how I can solve this issue?

I thought it was a MY97-98, now looking again it’s a MY99-01 transmission.
Does that make it a phase 2 transmission? Other than the gearing difference it’ll still work correct?
