The JDM displays are all more dim from my own experience and everything I've seen online Dumb question but have you tried messing with the dimmer button with the headlights on? EDIT: Just realized yours is a 2007 so that layout is going to be different, but there should a button there somewhere

I found this flat black duplicolor at autozone to be not perfect, but pretty close to the JDM black. More necessary in mine as the black, silver and wood trim was an eyesore

I needed the added negative illumination wire from the stereo adapter from tightfitfabrication in order for the HVAC illumination and dimmer to function
