  1. I wanted to add my experience on my 2008 5EAT Legacy GT

    TYPE OF STUTTER/STUMBLE

Steady throttle/Increasing throttle/Both: Steady throttle creates a hesitation/surging effect while accelerating

    MODS

    None- bone stock

    Stock Intercooler

    GAS/OIL

    93 Octane Speedway Gas

    Subaru 5W-30 Synthetic

    Ohio (midwest)

    MAINTENANCE

    Sensors changed:

    • Changed out OEM front O2 (oxygen) sensor for Denso model. Denso model caused engine to throw P0131 & P0134 codes.
    • Then had dealer change out Denso model O2 sensor for OEM O2 sensor

    Plugs changed: No

    Coil Packs changed: No

    OTHER SYMPTOMS

Check Engine Light: P0131 & P0134 codes on Denso sensor only. Stock (faulty) OEM sensor gave NO codes!

    RESULTS

What has and hasn't worked for you:

As mentioned above, I was experiencing a surge/release when holding the accelerator pedal steady between 2500-5000 RPMs. I suspected the O2 sensor was faulty in my car and swapped out the stock sensor (87k miles on it) for a Denso direct-fit replacement from advance auto parts. It should be noted that my stock sensor did not throw any check engine lights or codes. However, once the Denso sensor was in, the car would drive without a code for a while, then stumble/stutter/surge and then immediately throw P0131 & P0134 codes (and subsequently drive fine in open loop mode). I decided at that point to have my dealer take a peek at it. They swapped out the Denso sensor for an OEM O2 sensor. So far no surging and no check-engine lights or codes. Additionally, my dealer also found a vacuum leak near the recirculation valve at/near "a bolt". They previously also replaced my "air intake boot underneath my intake manifold" which was damaged/cracked. The combination of the above seems to have fixed my problem and I am no longer contemplating trading in this car.

If something worked, how long has it been working for: About 24 hours. Will update again as time goes on if anything changes.

Update: Almost 2 weeks later its still running great and no stutter!

  2. Hey all, Just picked up my 08 Bronze LGT Limited. Found it at Mercedes of Austin with only 20k miles and got it for $18k. I wil post pics in a few days, once I get it all cleaned up and the bug guts off it from the drive.

Holy crap, nice deal, especially considering the mileage. I just picked up a 08' Bronze LGT limited too, 80k mi for $14.5k.

I saw that one in Austin on my search. Nice car. Wish I was back in Austin. My first LGT (SWP '05) is driving around in Austin still with the 2nd owner. I miss that one still. I saw the old girl at Flying Saucer twice before I moved away in '11.

  3. But its a Mac... :p lol

We have Dells in our office and out of the 20 high performance XPS's we bought, 15 of them had failed raid configurations within 2 years directly relating to Maxtor.

But everyone has different experiences as well, I've been running 5 Seagate HD's in my computers at home for years, 1 is on my server that is on 24/7 and been that way for 5 years now running strong, the other ones run 24/7 as well, but not as old as the server drives yet.

Exactly, hard drives are a fickle thing and everyone has different experiences.

Keep in mind that all hard drives will likely fail eventually. Realistically, I wouldnt plan on keeping a HD for more than 4 years or so.

Personally, I've had terrible luck with WD and Maxtor HDs over the years. I have had at least 3 of each brand fail within 2 years of purchasing each one. I've also had one 500GB Samsung drive fail in the first year.

So far my best luck seems to be with IBM (Hitachi) drives and Seagate drives, but your mileage (as always) may vary.

  4. can someone guide me to a good desktop PC? Nothing fancy, Windows XP, Microsoft Office, will be used for school. Looking for less than $500, maybe on Black Friday? any store recommendations...I would rather order online then stand on line.

Internet sales are typically best on the following Monday. Keep an eye out for internet sales then.

    Try here: http://www.newegg.com

  5. Sweet deal. If you are wanting to purchase multiple disks make seperate orders. It's $10.00 off the entire order.

Yep! I'm building a home server, and these guys are going into it.

Hitachi drives are typically very good.

  6. I just installed dynamat in all 4 doors and also installed new Polk Audio DB650s. Took about 3 hours all together last weekend. I peeled back the plastic sheet on the inside of the door on the metal (NOT the plastic door panel) and put the dynamat in there, completely covered it pretty much, and I must say, I am very happy with the results.

What a huge difference! The car is so much quieter on the roads now. Very isolated cabin. The polk's make a difference too, I haven't noticed very much change on low end response, but the highs are definitely clearer and sound more true to life. I started noticing ticks of the cone on the ride symbol and high hats more clearly in rock. This is all using the stock deck.

    I'd highly recommend this upgrade.
