I did the exact same thing to my 2011 Legacy GT. It's awesome and works like a charm. Earth magnets prevent it from sliding all over. It even charges through the case. I was too chicken to work with the original dash board part so I ordered used piece from eBay. Hot glued it to the speaker cover and used a high speed 12 volt charger from amazon. Thanks for the idea.
