  1. Just curious as to hear what you guys are doing when you have low mileage and you are told you have to service by "whichever comes first."

    mysubar.com, subaru, and the car all like to remind me the 24m/24,000 mile service is due for example. i have 5500 miles on my car. i work from home. hell i dont think most people during the pandemic drove 12K a year anyways. subaru says ever 6 months you MUST change the oil (or you will be shot). Dealer says "don't go by that no one cares" and doesn't know what a 24 month service entails despite giving a print out from subaru.

    I'm in the same situation as you. I'm retired, the pandemic, etc and very little km on my garaged Legacy. I change the oil/filter once a year and look over the engine/cabin filters and other visual maintenance items. I check/lubricate the brakes when I do the seasonal tire changeover. I don't care much for the mileage nor for Subaru calls that I go visit them twice a year or whatever.

  2. As far as I'm aware, the warranty for the Canadian and US markets is the same

    (Full Warranty --> 36K MILES/3 Years USA = 60K KM/3 years)

    (Powertrain --> 60K MILES/5 Years USA = 100K KM/5 years)

    I can't speak to how this specific issue has been handled by Subaru thus far, but it should be covered, even outside warranty, since it constitutes a manufacturing/design defect. The TSB itself proves that.

    I can't speak for other provinces, but it should be covered under Québec law (Source: Am a civil litigation lawyer)

    I'm in Quebec and no news from Subaru regarding this TSB.

  3. Hi, thanks for letting me know that, I bought one of those heavy rubber pucks that sit in the saddle of my floor jack so that I can jack at the jack points.

    Yea I wondered about the oil fill since mine was the same way, up past the high mark, so you filled it to the high mark if I understand right since the manual says 4.2. Don't know why they just can't make it an even amount. Did you do miles or amount of time such as 6 months they say or 6000 miles? We don't put 6000 miles on in a year so I figured I would every 5000 miles which would take most a year since it is full synthetic.

    I sprayed my car with Woolwax for rust prevention so I had to drive it up on ramps both front and back, and I see all the body cladding underneath the car, made spraying trickier but got it done. Again thanks..

    I use a floor jack with hockey pucks when I do the winter wheels change. As for mileage, I'm in the same position as you and drive little so it's once per year no matter the mileage. By definition, 0W-20 is synthetic so I don't see the need to do it twice per year. Just make sure you take a good drive on the highway once in a while to burn off excess gas and condensation in the oil.

  4. I did my first oil change this spring which wasn't a big issue. No shielding underneath needs removing and the filter in the engine bay is the easiest possible setup. In Canada, the manual says 4.2 liters which is about what I put in to bring it to the full mark. And yes, my car was a good 1/2 inch above the full level from the factory. Subaru is taking no chances here... LOL

    As for jacking the front end, you'd be much better off with a set of ramps.

  5. That's the kind of answer I would have liked from a SOC insider regarding the lack of Speed Volume Control and other sound adjustments on my Harman Kardon stereo. Maybe I should reach out to SOA... BTW, could you post the exact address at SOA?
  6. Make a detailed video of exactly what happens and the chain of events. Make sure to take your phone over the fuel pump so everyone can clearly hear the hum. Upload the video to youtube in 4k and post on here. Send the video to your local dealer/service advisor. If they're clueless, send it to SOA.

    I might if it does it again. But for other issues, I've not been impressed by my dealer and SOC. So the less I do business with them, the better.

  7. Anybody noticed the fuel pump or something from the back undercarriage going On if you leave a door open more than 5 or 10 minutes? It happened to me a couple times now and I have to recycle the ignition (without starting the engine) to get the noise to stop. Strange as it could drain the battery or toast the pump. BTW, both my GF and I have the exact same car, even to the color and I couldn't get hers to display the behavior mine does.
  8. I’m really happy with the upgrade. Bass is certainly better, and there is def more volume now. I’m not looking to rattle windows, so this is perfect for a stock upgrade with no hacking of wires. If anyone is thinking of doing this, here are my tips. One, the head unit needs to be unbolted, but you do not need to disconnect every wire/harness like the directions say. It just isn’t necessary. Two, when you remove the center console, there are two small bolts near the seatbelts. Out the seat all the way forward, and these are super easy to get to. Three, the only real pain in the ass is routing the harness under part of the carpet to come out under the passenger seat where to amp will sit. I cut my carpet. It’s completely unnoticeable. It was so hard to get the two connectors under and through. I fished a piece of copper wire from a 14/2 electrical wire to tape the harness though to help guide it through. It’s actually quite funny how small the magnets are on the stock speakers. They could probably hold a post it note on the fridge. Lol

    Not sure I would attempt this but does your radio has Speed Volume Control that is absent from my Harman Kardon stereo?

  9. I just picked up the car today. It was there since Thursday but the dealer gave me a loaner. As far as I can tell the noise is gone. They replaced the driver side strut rear strut. There was a different service advisor when I picked the car up and she said she thinks there will be some sort of recall because of the number of strut replacements they've had to do. Hopefully my passenger side strut doesn't go next...

    Can you confirm model and date of manufacture?

  10. Yeah got that email as well, guess we Canadians have to perform the update ourselves. We also never got the other updates earlier. Every time I went to the dealer the service guy had zero clue about an update.

    I don't trust them so I did it myself, piece of cake really.

    Same here but they did the first update. I hope the real (and subsequent ones) update come shortly...

  11. updated the first post w/ some images of the horrible panel gaps. i literally just noticed. not sure if it was always this way or what. 5mm difference side to side is huge.

    What is your build date? Regarding your panel gap pictures, mine (Built March '20) has had the sunroof adjusted. The front left corner was 3 mm higher than the other corners.

    The chrome moulding on the upper edge of the driver's door sits maybe 1mm lower than the back door's at the B pillar, but i'm tolerating it... Did you notice if those black plastic mouldings are well glued to their rubber edge on the B and C pillar?
