hutru01
I think the flush grill is the way to go with 08's. Just as a suggestion, I really think it would look really good if you would simply dremel out the wings behind the grill.
DarthKnight
where did you get your mesh and what is it called? dk
nemo
What did you use around the edges of the mesh? If you don't vote Trump, out, you're a bigot who hates america.
rob3blk
thanks for the comments and suggestions guys. i might eventually get rid of the wing and change the grille to black. i just like the way it supports the mesh and makes it rounded abit. I used door edge trim and they have adhesive inside them. bought the grille at pacific mall in toronto and here is the maker: http://www.poliauto.com/html/catalogs/trend59.htm

XVR_legacy
like it alot. I would put the subaru emblem in the middle of the grille to give the black hole some life tho. Otherwise very nice job. -Brian
DarthKnight
Thanks for the link. They don't seem to sell online. I don't live in Toronto. Clever using the door edge trim. Also, was it hard to remove the centre grill area and do you have pictures of you doing so? dk
rob3blk
glad you notice MiniStiGuy, thanks for the advice. found grilleguys' instruction and ran with it. thank you for the compliment XVR_legacy. yeah i have the subaru emblem ready to go, just lazy in removing the grille again. plus its fun, having people look at the car and trying to figure out what it is. DarthKnight, there is actually a thread that discusses this started by collegemt: http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=85178 It was fairly hard because of limited space. It would be easier if you have smaller hands and arms. I had scratches on my hand and arm doing it. battle scars. there are pics there that shows you where the screws are located and instructions which are very helpful. If you can get a hold of a snake like screwdriver that i used and a small mirror, you are good to go. i think i have some pictures. hey DarthKnight, i going to post the pics in the thread above that collegemt started. found the pics. have time cause no hockey game tonite. DrCloud
This is a great idea, and an even greater implementation of it. How, pray tell, did you get the material cut to such a good fit? Did you make a pattern? Trial and error? I want to do this! HPH
rob3blk
hi DrCloud. I did make a pattern and then trial and error after. I had the grille sitting more flushed with the bumper and took MiniStiGuy advice and move it back more for aesthetic and also for attachment. Here are some pictures i just took so you can get the measurement of the grille. Hope this helps and saves time. The grille in the picture is an extra one and have some more grille left over to make another one but without the edge. Create a full cardboard pattern first before cutting you grille, this allows you to position and play with it. Once you are satified, go for it. In putting the grille farther back, i needed to cut and adjust a bit. later
DrCloud
Thank you! At least the front-end is symmetric, so you really only need to make half a pattern, I guess. And maybe I can build up enough confidence with this lower-opening project that I can tackle the main grill. Off-the-shelf ones seem slow in materializing. DarthKnight
Thanks for the link and pictures. I found that link by collegemt but he didn't write how he took off the grill. I'll guess it's just trial an error for me! I may look for a used grill at a junk yard first as I'm not that brave or tool savy. love the shot with the beer bottle. dk
