Just bought 2006 Spec.B #64 today, finally!!

Recommended Posts

After trolling this site for months, I finally pulled the trigger and signed the contract today on 2006 LGT Spec.B #64 out of Bayside, NY (Star Subaru). Gotta love the Internet. Located it easily.

After seeing that SOA made the $2,000 Cash Back available on all 2006 LGTs, I couldn't wait anymore. I did all my research, gathered all my papers and headed down there. The dealer was really nice, very knowlegeable, and not shady at all - a real Subaru enthusiast.

Anyway, he gave it to me for $32,707, what he claimed to be invoice. Sticker was $34K something or other. Minus the $2K Cash Back, my price was about $30,707 before tax (hate the taxman). Not bad I think.I debated the LGT LTD vs. the Spec.B for months. I couldn't justify the price difference for no increase in power. Not only that, but I really, really wanted the NAVI and MP3 capability neatly installed from the factory with the 5MT or 6MT. Can't believe this is not a valid offering in the LTD. The Cash Back pushed my sanity over the edge and lit a fire under my butt.

Anyway, I'm really happy. I pick it up tomorrow and will post pictures as soon as possible.

Whooo hooo!!!! I'm thrilled.:icon_lol:

Gratz on your Spec.B

Does that $2k rebate apply to the Legacy GT as well? Last I checked I thought it was only $1,500 rebate. I ask as I'm real interested in getting a GT but the vehicles price has been just a bit too much for my monthly. A $2k rebate would help push me over the top!

Different areas have different rebates. CA has a $1500 rebate currently, but also $500 factory to dealer incentives.

Yep. $2K is for the Northeast only as far as I know. Yes, it applies to all Legacy 2006 models (LGT and Spec.B included, heh heh). The quote below is straight from Subaru.com after putting in a NE zip code.

CUSTOMER CASH REBATE ON 06 LEGACY MODELS

Now through May 31, 2006 - ALL 2006 Legacy models are available with $2,000 Customer Cash. Must take delivery from dealer stock by May 31, 2006. See your participating dealer for details.

Sublo ... I put in my Connecticut zip code (06405) under "Specials" and I get

CUSTOMER CASH REBATE ON 06 LEGACY MODELS (excluding 2006 Legacy GT spec.B) Now through May 31, 2006 - select 2006 Legacy models are available with Customer Cash up to $2,500. Must take delivery from dealer stock by May 31, 2006. See your participating dealer for details. 2006 Legacy 2.5i Special Edition models $2,500

2006 Legacy 2.5i Limited models $2,000

2006 Legacy 2.5 GT models (excluding 2006 Legacy GT spec.B) $1,500

Bruin - Is that CA $500 factory to dealer the dealer holdup - as in if the car I want has been on the lot a while then the dealer doesn't get the $500?

Will have to fight for every penny off to be able to achieve a workable monthly for me...not to mention trying to get the dealership to give me a good price on the extended warranty ... but I've been drooling over a Garnet Red GT now for 2 months.

Thanks again

Can you show me where this is listed, posted, or quoted? Cars101.com says $1500 ($2000 for Outbacks), but if this changed, I'd like to see where it's posted. I searched for a while, so if that info is available here somewhere, then just tell me to search again. (Edit: Just saw the above posts, so I will put in my zip code at Subaru.com)

Also, did you finance through the dealership? If so, do you mind sharing the rate? Again, Cars101.com lists 700+ credit score as being able to get 4.9% for 60mos, which is pretty good considering the Fed rate right now.

I'm probably going to be getting an 06 LGT Wagon (not sure the nomenclature used for that) in the next few weeks to complement the Evo (wifey), and I plan to wheel and deal as much as possible like you seemed to have done.

Congrats. I bought my Spec B (34) back in January for 32900 and thought that was a great deal. Outstanding car. All LGT are great, but the Nav and the red leather really "kick this up" a notch. Enjoy.

I'm not sure what the story is for New England. I put in a Bayside (Queens County), NY zip code of 11364, my old home town and came up with the $2K rebate. STAR Subaru on Northern Blvd. and 206st (Clearview Expwy) honored it no questions asked.

I go in tomorrow to sign the financing paperwork. I haven't seen the rates yet so it's not a 100% done-deal. I signed only the contract and credit application. I have spotless credit. Last time I checked, it was like 780 or something. I'll be glad to tell you what rate I got after tomorrow - not sure yet. I have a Chase mortgage. The first choice on the credit app. was Chase also. I'm sure I'll do pretty well.

Attached, is the contract so you can see the exact purchase price and proof of $2k rebate.

The cash rebate, if any, depends on region and distributor. Subaru of New England (independent distributor) offers no cash rebate on the spec.b and only $1,500 on the LGT. On the other hand, Subaru Distributors Corp (independent distributor for NY and northern NJ) offers a $2,000 cash rebate on all LGTs (including the spec.B).

Special rebates and financing and leasing depend on where you buy the car.

Did they not charge you tax on the rebate? They usually do since they put it down as part of the down payment. Anyway good deal. Like I posted on the other thread I sat in that one when I went there looking for my mother's Tribeca. Nice car, and good luck.

Correct, my understanding is that the $500 is an incentive the dealer gets only if a car is sold. I've found edmunds.com the best place for seeking out all incentives/rebates for cars. Check there as the rebates/incentives all differ by areas.

Don't know about the LGT LTD pricing - wasn't in there to find out. I'm sure they'll give you a good deal. Ask for Gary Zias - cool guy.

Tax in NYC including NYS taxes is 8.375% of whatever you buy - a shirt or a car. Look back in this thread. I posted my contract price which states the tax amount. One funny thing is that the rebate was applied after I was taxed on the full agreed upon price. Wish is was applied before - could have saved a few bux.

Hell yeah. New York State and City are a bunch of crooks. There's nothing I can do about however except move - not happening soon.

First mods: Waiting on MoMo shifter from dealer, Cobb short-throw shifter on order. 20% - 25% tint all-around this weekend. I need a sub-woofer setup desperately. The tiny stock speaker systems doesn't cut it at all. I'm investigating. Any suggestions that don't take up massive real estate would be appreciated. I don't need to wake up the neighborhood. Just clear, loud, good bass - maybe 2 10"s.

In a month or two, I'll do the Cobb Access Port, UP, DP, and Exhaust (as long as it's not too loud - can't stand rice sound just need more power). Not sure on the UP or DP models either - have to do more research. Plus, I want to keep it legal and pass OBD/sniff tests year after year.

I'm still trying to find out firsthand if the catless pipe will pass NYS inspection (OBDII and sniff tests) after the first two years. I'm not concerned with visual so much.

Seems like most places tax the same whether shirt or car. In Tucson, Ariz., where I just got my Outback XT it's 7.6%. Sucks to pay $2,200 in taxes. Let's hope at least they use the $$ to pull out the roads so there's more gravel to drive the Outback on...!
