BrownBoy
whoa! crazy close clearance. Gotta give ya props for putting those on. Too bad you couldnt run those 255s. But even these are a lil too close for comfort in my opinion. How do you think it'll fair as far as rubbing on the inside? The fenders can always be rolled, but the inside, different story. The reason I'd like to know is cus I was thinking about the same tires in the same size...
Xenonk
it's not rubbing on the inside, it's rubbing on the fender on the outside on the rear. I wouldnt do a 255/40/18 unless you have something like a 8" wide wheel with a +48mm offset AND you would have to get as much camber as possible on ALL 4 corners on top of the fact that you would have to roll your fenders like mad in the rear. Xenonk
I'll post more pics of the rims on the car tomorrow. It should be great since the tires fill up the ENTIRE wheel gap and basically the car looks like the fenders sit on tires from the profile view. I didnt change the ride height of the car yet (and I dont plan on doing so since I just went for a spirited drive). The rear just rubs a little bit under fast suspension travel but it's doing just fine with my stiffer and shorter suspension travel setup. SC GT
Keefe, What's causing the rub, the height (i.e., diameter), or the width? SC
BrownBoy
Good to hear that the inside doesnt rub unless under some spirited driving. Yeah, fender rolling is of course a must. But the set up looks great, and I cant wait to see a profile shot. Sorry if I missed it, but what is the total diameter of the new set up? Does it still fall within tolerances since you stepped down in size? Yet again an addition to the Keefe gallery of wheels.
Xenonk
Keefe, What's causing the rub, the height (i.e., diameter), or the width? SC the tire is wide and the outside rear fender is being rubbed up on the tire when it's hitting harsh fast and deep bumps.. damn Azenis is built like a 255+ tire.. I had to readjust some of the numbers on my FAQ to let people know that anything built like a true 255 wide tire needs fender rolling, especially when you combine it with the offset ranges I have given to compensate for the worse case scenario. The diameter isn't an issue and it's very doable to cram in a 25.5" tall tire in the car and not have it rub up on anything (as well as stock shocks, but I have yet to verify that). This tire and wheel set up is probably the biggest you can go for the GT. I have pretty maxed out the inside and the outside as well for a modified GT like mine without too much of a fender issue. This is big as it's going to get without too much modding or body work. Any wider and you'll have to get fender work and the suspension realigned and done to fit wider tires and wheels under there. So for those of you who plan to run 9" wide rims with 265+ wide tires, expect to do some fender body work. Keefe Keefe

With my particular set up, it's not going to ever rub on the inside, it's the outside that will rub. Here are the specs for the tire: Falken Azenis RT-615 Size: 245/40/18 Load & Speed Rating: 97W (reinforced) Model Number: 28-352-843 Recommended Rim Width: 8.5" Approved Rim Widths: 8.0" to 9.5" Overall Tire Diameter: 25.6" Sectional Width: 9.8" Tread Width: 9.1" Tread Depth: 8/32" Revolutions Per Mile: 803 Shipping Weight: 27.8 lbs Max PSI @ Load Weight: 50 psi @ 1609 lbs The tolerance is beyond 2% of what I have in my FAQ, but I will include this tire size in the mix anyways since it's very close to the tolerance. No one cares to be off by 4mph when traveling 60mph right? Just DRIVE AT THE SPEED LIMIT with these tires Keefe Keefe

Xenonk
just the rear from coming down from a harsh tall speed bump too fast.. I cambered in the front -1.5 degrees to make sure they clear. No rubbing from trail-braking, turning or u-turning. Keefe Keefe
colatkitty
Nice to be able to add - camber with your coilover setup. I don't think the stock setup will allow for that much.
Xenonk
if you lower the car you can get as much as -1.5 degrees of camber if you dial out the stock camber bolts to the max.. Keefe Keefe
