You know what....I may have just found the wheels I want to put on my LGT!

*Aha....I googled em...they're gonna be cheaper than the Volks! That's WITH tires too!*

You da man Keefe!

That's good to know! HaHa!

Question: With the offset you chose on the Privats....even though they're 17" wheels, where do you think the wheel/tire combo will come in regards to the edge of the fender well?

Say you're looking down the length of your car from the back or front, and you notice the paralell relation of the wheel/tire to the fender. How far IN do they go, or how close do you think they'll come to the edge of the well?

*Sorry...that's the best way I can describe it!*

P.S. Can you remember what kind of deal you got on those Privats? I'm looking for 18" wheels! Any help is appreciated!

They will be FLUSH with the fender..It's NOT AT ALL GOING TO BE "IN" as you think like stock wheels. I will need to roll the rear fenders to clear the 245/40/17 tires (or 225/45/17 Falkens Azenis). The clearance is just by 5mm (1/5" for you English-only users).. so I just need to roll the fenders in the rear. The drop and the camber bolts/plates will make it clear the front with no problem. Oh yea, 17x8 for 17.5 lbs.. not complaining over here. :D

These rims came off my WRX for STX use as I wanted the widest rim and the widest track I could get without ADDing fenders (minor fender modifications are allowed for STX). So yea, they will look WIDE. The conversation between me and the rim shop went like this:

Shop= "are you sure that they will fit?"

Me= "yes, they will fit, I need something wide and move the track out"

Shop= "ok because we are not responsible for the rims not fitting"

Me= "dont worry, I take all responsibility, and if they dont fit, I'll make them fit"

Shop= "we just dont want to sell you something that doesnt fit"

Me= "I am not paying you to tell me what doesnt fit, I am paying for the rims and tires, so are you going to sell it to me or give it to me to test fit and take it back and not get a sale?"

Ahhh....cool!

I have no desire to roll any fenders though. I don't know how far I'm going to drop it either. It's gonna be one of those "eyeball it" things.

Back then, 17x8 Farhens were $260/wheel.. now they dropped down to $192/wheel.

I dont think they make a 18" wheel for the GT that can fit without fender roll in the rear. http://www.tires.com only has a 19" application in Hyper Gray.

http://www.discounttiredirect.com/product/wheels/prvfah.hgr.ang.jpg

$310/wheel for 19"x8" +40mm.. just need to roll the rear fenders and run 225/35/19 tires.

Rolling fenders is not that bad. It's just to keep that stupid sharp edge from cutting into your side walls.

I'm slightly confused (few cans short of a 6 pack really). You said that BOTH 18" & 19" wheels would require the rear fenders to be rolled?

I know I want 18" wheels. I don't think I need to go as high as 19" to get the look I want.

I've heard fender rolling isn't as bad as I think from many people. It's just that it's all me doing the work. There aren't any shops here that I would trust to do it....and I've never done it before myself...so there's where the skepticism comes from!

The reason for me saying that 18"x8" and 19"x8" needs rolling is because both of those wheels sizes (for the Farhens) are +40mm offset on a 8" wide rim.. (that's where the real problem comes from, not the rim diameter). A good body shop with a fender roller that mounts to the wheel hub (that tool retails for about $500) is the good one. It doesnt take much to roll that rear lip (heat gun and a quite a few rolls). The job nationally cost around $60 to $80 per PAIR of fenders as you are only rolling the lip, not FLARING. A good shop only takes no more than 2 hours to roll it. The heat gun is used to soften the paint so that it doesnt crack when rolling.

This is fender ROLLING:

Steps of how to do it here:

http://www.robsaudiworld.com/fender.htm

I might JDM FLARE all of my fenders if I decide to run 265/30/18 or 275/30/18 tires with 10" rims on the GT for kicks. But right now that's just a thought. A set of 265/30/18 tires with a 18"x10" rim with a +30 or +28mm offset will max out the inboard fender room and the tire will stick out about 3/4" of an inch to an 1". Fender Flaring would be neccessary to make the car look decent.

This is fender FLARING:

The flare job can be better than this.
