05 Outback 2.5i Posted February 11, 2009 Share Posted February 11, 2009 So after multiple failures of the low beam headlamps (two of which were replaced under warranty), I decided to try the Sylvania Xtra Vision bulbs because I had used the H4 version of their bulb in the Miata and was happy with it for years. After about seven months of service I ordered a set of bulbs from Candlepower because I couldn't take driving anymore, the light output was so bad. The New bulbs arrived last night, and I pulled the Sylvania's to replace them. I was surprised at what I found, but not as surprised as I was after I pulled the second one and found it had failed in the exact same way. I've been an auto enthusiast for years, and not only know not to touch the globes, but cleaned them with denatured alcohol before installation, in case there was anything on the bulb when it was packaged. I'm going to try and find the receipt and see if the auto parts store will take these back.
