GOTO:Racing's new race car for 2006: The Legacy GT

For everyone who has been interested in seeing these cars raced, we may have the cure for you. Last week we brought a 2005 Legacy GT into our stable and began it's preparation for wheel-to-wheel competition in 2006. We are building to both Grand-Am Cup and US Touring Car specs, and the car will be ready for testing after the new year.

Below are some pics from the first week of the build. Right now we are coming up to the end of the fabrication stage. I will post updates as the project takes shape. Enjoy!

Ready to start building?

Cage is not quite complete on sunday, but close. Door bars and harness bars are all that is left.

Are you guys going to do a garage sale of LGT take-offs? Lots of stuff it looks like.

Yes, I haven't gotten around to organizing it all with pics and stuff yet, but practically everything stock on the car is for sale. Springs, shocks, all the interior (except dash), wheels and tires, spare tire lol. You name it, its for sale.

Note: Everything will be for sale through my sponsor, MSI/DMS. More info to come soon.

I drove this car from where I bought it to the shop. Stock handling was great. It did not feel longer or bigger than the WRX at all, that wasn't what I was expecting. After taking a closer look at the geometry with the car on the lift, I really think that there is going to be a huge difference on the track as well. But I won't speculate any more. Its first test day should be just after the new year, I can give a more detailed report then.

There might be some intrest in the stock radio to see if I can mod it or find someone who might be able to :)

Depends on the $ :)

If I pass you on the right, I'm flipping you off.

you will notice some changes (drove a modified GDA WRX for 2 years on the track) from the GT once you track it.. once you drop off the 400 to 500 lbs of weight out of the car (which it looks like you are half way there), you'll start to notice that the rear end is lighter than the WRX (corner loads will feel different).

Good luck with everything. I will be there one day with the GT ;) (but not any time soon, damn costs of racing, $5000 entry fees and the sort).. do let us know what you will do with the tranny and LSDs.. I know eventually you'll feel that you will not get enough tire on the ground (since those STis can cram in 285s without a problem), so I can only see you guys doing some fabrications to the body to fit the same size tires.. make those STi's run for the money first, worry about the rest of the world later ;)
