FireB
Well, great to live in the tri-state with wonderful roads. I purposefully "Inched Down" (Stock 18") to prevent this from happening but you just can't win. I don't recall any extreme situation where I hit a bump or pothole very hard. Could it be the structural problem of this rim? Rim is not bent visibly at all. http://i411.photobucket.com/albums/pp192/fistoffire/LGT%20Forum/brokenrim1.jpg http://i411.photobucket.com/albums/pp192/fistoffire/LGT%20Forum/brokenrim2.jpg Sorry for the big picture!! scooby600
That's weird, I've never seem a spoke crack before. I just noticed that one of my 18" Superleggeras had 2 small cracks on the inside of the wheel. I hope this isn't an OZ thing since I always thought they made good wheels. FireB
Tell me about it! I thought more spokes, stronger the rim but that idea just went out the window. Especially it's OZ rims too. Oh well, I'll have to put the winter sets a little early this year and this with this next spring...
Spec B
Ken...check out this link. Guy is having the exact same problem issue. http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=121867 EDIT...just noticed Scooby600 already commented.
Spec B
Scooby...your wheels are Supers or Ultras? I am about to pull my superslegs out of storage for winter use, I need to thoroughly check mine before i bolt them up!
FireB
Thanks Spec B. I do recommend you to check your rims also because broken rims can cause catastrophe if it breaks into pieces going 70mph!! And thanks for the link!
Spec B
I am not sure where you go the wheels, but you should contact OZ and gauge their reaction. That should not happen ever. Are you sure it is not just a surface crack?
FireB
Oh I got my nails under it. Well I can tell you that it's not hairline crack for sure. When I cleaned the wheels, I thought it was some small scratch but ended up to be some hefty crack. I guess I should contact OZ about it and see what they have to say... It's always worth a shot I guess
E-Tank
They should replace the wheel, no questions asked. When you pay that much for a product the company dang well better back it. If there are other people on our forum that are having this issue, then there are people all over the world that are having it too. I wouldn't drop it until I saw retribution. Good luck. Leke
I did hear a little while ago that either the Ultraleggeras or Superleggeras were prone to cracking. I believe it was somewhere on NASIOC that I read this. My brother also passed the same comment when I suggested that he get those wheels for his WRX. FireB
Little old thread but finally got the rims taken care of by TIRERACK. They are great people. I got a brand new rim that replaced the cracked rim with the picture above. They took care of the return shipping. Great people to deal with. I think I will purchase my new summer tire from them again when time comes.

If you do end up buying from them again, you should make it a point to let them know you're doing so because of your previous experience with their customer service. FireB
Oh definitely. It's amazing how they treat you. Usually if it is a return like this, anyone would have looked the other way but they took care of me good. I'm seriously impressed. Usually people have to deal with this type of problem by buying a new rim. But TireRack knows that if they take care of their customers, they know they will come back to them. I'm definitely loyal to them after this!
