JDM Rain Visor installation

Recommended Posts

Finally got around to putting my JDM rain visors on today. Install is not bad, the hardest part was putting the roof mold back in. For some reason my passenger side visor fit easier than the driver's side. Had to bend the driver's side visor a little bit to get it to line up, while the passenger's side fit right on.

Purchased from EDO Performance. Came with 12 brackets and primer. Some people's visor's come with the directions written in Japanese, but mine came with them in English, so I scanned them. Ignore the part about bracket "C" as its not needed on the Legacy install. I also ended up with two extra brackets, using 4 "A" brackets and 1 "B" bracket on each side.

Awesome.

I've been sitting on my ass about this for the last, like, 3 years. I think you've finally pushed me over the edge. ;)

I haven't driven the car yet since putting them on yesterday, but before without them on, I would get all kinds of wind noise with the window at certain positions. I'm more interested to see how well they keep rain from getting in the car when I crack the window.

It does allow you to crack the window on a Mid-Atlantic summer day, parked.

Ours is starting to loosen at the front. Perhaps I didn't clean the plastic enough. Might add a screw on each side.

Hey scoobiedoobie (and others with the OEM JDM Rainguard) -

How far can you guys/gals crack your windows, before rain/weather intrudes?

Two-point-five?!!! That's not bad at all!!!!

I'd assume that's at-cruise, right?

How about if the car was at a standstill (say, at a light).

Thanks again!!!

2.5 may have been a bit of an over estimate on my part. And yeah, that would be at cruise. It also depends a lot on how torrential the downpour is. Next time I drive in the rain here, I'll take some observations for you.

Hey bro,

Just wondering if you've gotten wet lately? ;)

Any confirmation on the above?

Also, more specifically, I'm wondering if you meant 2.5" at-standstill....how much you can crack the windows open, at-standstill, that's my main concern.

With the AVS ("USDM") rainguards, I can open to about an inch, max, before rain intrusion, at-standstill....

Well its raining today, not pouring down, but a considerable bit of rain. Just sat in the car and I can crack the window about 2" without rain drops getting in, maybe a little more.

One is made for Legacy's with a roof rack, the other is for those without a roof rack.

One's apparently for vehicles with the OEM roof-rails, the other, without. That should correspond to wagon versus sedan, respectively.

I ordered the model without roof-rails (sedan), and also a Zero/Sports TMIC splitter this morning, but both were out-of-stock, backordered 4-5 weeks.

EDO's C/S is really responsive - I'm impressed.

We exchanged about a half-dozen e-mails throughout the early evening, yesterday, and sorted out my order, including verification of the product numbers/application.

The ones "without roof rail," their C/S confirms, is designed for SEDAN (BL) fitment. I also looked up the product number, individually, and several other sources confirms this as well.

The one "with roof rail" is for WAGON (BP) fitment.

:)
